125th Pennsylvania Volunter Infantry Regiment

Baptism by Fire
Recruited in Blair and Huntingdon Counties during the summer of 1862 and less than six weeks after enlistment, this regiment charged into the Bloodiest Day in American History at the Battle of Antietam. As part of the XII Corps of the Army of the Potomac, they charged down Smoketown Road, past the Dunker Church, and into an exposed position in the West Woods[1].
