Levels 5-1 thru 5-10: Roof
[edit]Levels 5-1 thru 5-10 are played on the roof. These are all daytime levels, except or level 5-10, which is night.
On the roof, all plants must be planted in flower pots. Level 5-1 offers 5 columns of flower pots, level 5-2 offers 4, and each subsequent level offers 3. There are 5 lanes of zombies.
The only plants that can shoot full range are the catapult plants, which include the cabbage-pult, kernel-pult, and melon pult. Other shooting plants can shoot across part of the roof, but due to the slanted nature of the roof, cannot shoot past slants. Catapult plants, however, can be used on other levels of subsequent games.

Dr. Zomboss cannot be killed with any plants; he is killed only by passing the level. Dr. Zomboss throughout the level tosses many types of zombies on the roof. He also hurls fireballs, which must be neutralized with ice-shrooms, and iceballs, which must be neutralized with hot peppers. All plants are distributed via conveyor belt. These include flower pots, cabbage-pults, kernel-pults, melon-pults, hot peppers, and ice-shrooms. Dr. Zomboss destroys plants that are planted close to him by stepping on them. He also destroys plants that are planted far away from him by dropping a truck on them, taking out an area of plants 2 lanes by 3 columns. Fireballs and iceballs also destroy plants. Upon successful completion of the level, the player wins. |
