The Extended Community Canon project

[edit]

The Extended Community Canon Project is an initiative by a group of community developers (also referred to as modders) to extend and expand on the lore of Thedas, the world setting of the Bioware computer Role Playing Game Dragon Age: Origins. One of the more interesting features of this is the interconnection of the various modules created by modders from all over the world; this can be as small as a reference to an event in another module, or as big as additional content in a module that is only available if other community canon modules are used.

Origins of the ECCP

[edit]

In Dragon Age Podcast Episode 8[1], Questorion, the project lead for the Dark Times: The Confederacy of Malkuth module describe the inspiration for the Extended Community Canon Project; part of this was the Star Wars Extended Universe and another was a past project that he and Spillymuffin had collaborated on. It was also driven by a desire to have modules for Dragon Age: Origins be more than simply unrelated additions to the main campaign or stand-alone stories, but instead allow module developers to assemble modules that made the characters and events seem like things that were really happening. Examples of this sort of interconnection are given below.

Modules of the ECCP

[edit]

Official Modules

[edit]

The following modules currently are a part of this initiative. Please note that some of these are works-in-progress and thus are generally not available for use:

Origins Campaign Extensions

[edit]

These modules become an integrated part of the Dragon Age: Origins Campaign when installed:

Stand-alone Campaigns

[edit]

These modules are separate stories from the official Bioware campaigns:

Unofficial Modules

[edit]

The following modules are not strictly speaking a part of the Extended Community Canon project, but they are based on the lore of Thedas; there may be future additions to core ECCP modules that support one or more of these as part of the initiative.
