CAoW

Since you are listed as a Roman Catholic, I figured I'd send you this. Wikipedia:Catholic Alliance of wikipedia has been nominated for Deletion. Please vote and/or tell other people to vote to keep this organization on wikipedia. --Shanedidona 01:33, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

CAoW

CAoW is a CAtholic organization for the preservation of conservative values, basically, CAoW is a redily summonable voting block in case a pro-life article is threatened. If you brouse around wikipedia, you will notice that there is an angst toward people with conservative values. By the way, I started the group like 8 hours ago, and it's already being challenged (by a liberal). Check the challenger's profile. Vote Pro-Life! --Shanedidona 02:54, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Vote for the page here:Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Catholic Alliance of wikipedia

The group is ment to save articles and Categories such as "Pro-life celebrities"

Please reread the CAoW page and reconsider your vote. The page has changed. --Shanedidona 03:14, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Hey, I started a Star Wars wikiproject proposal. Here is the proposal. Deckiller 00:05, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Scouting Barnstarn

Did you see this proposal? Scouting Barnstarn --evrik 19:51, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Could you go back and vote one more time. We're trying to build a consensus on a star. Thanks! evrik 18:21, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Scouting Barnstar - Where to put it?

I believe that the award that was created for the Scouting Barnstar should be a topical award. Scouting is a world-wide movement that has served youth in many countries for more than 100 years and represents the youth of the world at the United Nations.

It has been suggested that the award be given as a PUA. The first line on the PUA page reads, "This page provides a collection of awards created by individual Wikipedians." The Scouting Barnstar was created by the WikiProject Scouting.

Currently, the is a discussion going on at Wikipedia_talk:Barnstars#Removed_the_scouting_barnstar. Please comment there if you are interested.evrik

Hey there

How goes it? Right now, I'm working on improving the New England Patriots article; it's coming quite along; I added a footnote section, some references, split the history, added a brief section on logos, etc. Take a look. Deckiller 01:08, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the Best User Page Project

Let us try an experiment. Until further notice, the voting system will be open, using the method described in the Guidelines. This will make us understand how reliable the current system is and whether the project has a real possibility to expand into hundrends of users or not.

All users are encounaged to display the {{BestUserPage}} banner on their User Page.

All members all encouraged to display the {{BUP}} banner in their User Page, and also notify that the project has started.

We will refer to the votes for this first session as "March 2006" in the archive.

Opentasks for my love

My red-headed love, here are some tasks you can do. I'll reward you ^_^

  • Go through the star wars pages and look for any merger proposals you see. Post a list on my talkpage, including merge articles and the lists they are to be merged into. Make sense?
  • If you come across any Star Wars articles that aren't in a category, please add the correct category.

Thanks, my dear! Deckiller 01:38, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Collaboration

I like the tab at the top of the current collaboration article idea, so I'll do that. Using talk pages is what I do with the project home pages, but doing much beyond that simply takes too much time. Thanks for the idea. Rlevse 10:03, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Scouting article work

If you are getting this, it is because you do or did work on Scouting articles (see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Scouting#Participants_and_primary_areas_of_interest).

As the Scouting WikiProject has been formed since early January 2006, we've had many great improvements made in this area of Wiki and I want to personally thank everyone for their help. We don't always agree on things, but we keep moving forward. YIS, Rlevse 22:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Scouting Userboxes

They are pretty easy. Take one of the others, like the Queen's Scout one and copy it to say here. Then just play, altering the colours, words and images. Get back to me when you want to put one in template space. That is also easy. --Bduke 23:59, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Unfortunately, userboxes cannot contain images labelled as "fair use" per policy. Someone already removed the one you added, so I reverted back to the previous version. The best options are to a) find an image that is public domain, b) use text in the userbox. --NThurston 17:58, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

You might want to contact User:kintetsubuffalo about this. He was involved in creating the current generic images and might have something that suits you interests. --NThurston 20:26, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Windber as a suburb

Griz, This is my first attempt ever to use a talk page. I did see you removed an entry of mine regarding Alan Freed and Johnnie Weismuller from the Johnstown page as you believe Windber is not a suburb of Johnstown. I do understand your point that Windber lies across a county line. Please do know that the United States Census Bureau defines Johnstown's metropolitan area as Somerset and Cambria Counties. So by the stardard definition used by all geographers, Windber is a suburb of Johnstown, as are other Somerset County towns such as Davidsville, Jerome, Paint and Benscreek. I have worked very hard on the Johnstown Wikipedia entry in the last two weeks. I am documenting all my entries to ensure accuracy. I would be gald to share with you any particular citation that interests you. If you do have any questions, please let me know. Thanks. user: Hattanguy 1204am edt 6/6/06.

Thank you

for the barnstar and you're welcome :)  Dure  (T) (E) (C) 04:47, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello

I'm sorry, but I could not help but notice that you are from PA, and based on your "Major contributions and pages I frequently edit" from Johnstown. I came upon your page because you have the NHS userbox that I created. I am also from Johnstown and thought it was cool to see a person so close that goes on here. Anyway, I just thought I'd drop a message. --WillMak050389 15:53, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

yeah, I go to Westmont, just got inducted into NHS this past May. I'm still going there for one more year though. Just thought it was cool to find another johnstownian here. And you know my girlfriend too? That's awesome. Hope to talk to you more. --WillMak050389 02:32, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Project updates
Greetings, Star Wars editors! Deckiller here. It's the first edition of the WikiProject Star Wars newsletter, and yes, it's a semi-ripoff of the Esperenza newsletter. I think it's important to begin with some good news: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Jabba the Hutt have reached featured article status! Kudos to the editors who helped obtain these achievements!

WikiProject Star Wars is also on a mission to improve Star Wars articles using the following ideas:

  • An out of universe perspective versus an in universe perspective (see Wikipedia:Writing about fiction and the future ammendments to our manual of style)
  • Evolving lists into regular articles
  • Moving excess information and specifics to Wookieepedia (and providing links to Wookieepedia per the "see also" and/or "external links" sections)
  • Enhanced communication amongst WikiProject members
  • More to come

These should provide the basic steps needed to improve and "encyclopedia-fy" the Star Wars series of articles.

Things to do
There are plenty of Wikipedia:WikiProject Star Wars/things to do. An update to the page is coming very soon, and it will represent the new and exciting changes that Star Wars pages will be receiving!
Out-of-universe versus in-universe perspectives
Although details are forthcoming, I would like to take this time to explain the gist of this concept. Wikipedia has generally agreed that fictional articles should write about the topic from a "real world" perspective, focusing on real world issues and topics, with a section or two for plot synopsis and so on. Jabba the Hutt is a solid character example, and Clone Wars (Star Wars) is quickly moving toward an out of universe perspective.
Article evolution

As many of you know, lists of minor Star Wars-related themes are very common on Wikipedia; however, since these may be seen as violations of Wikipedia policy (and having seperate articles would breach even more policies), the tentative solution is to create general articles on a list's topic (for example, turning List of Star Wars devices into Technology of Star Wars, which allows us to cover everything from hyperspace to comlinks in a general encyclopedic fashion). This can be very tough for some broad topics, so the key is organization. I encourage all editors to list their ideas on the WikiProject talk page. It will be a very difficult — but tangible — effort.

For an example, let me point you to the Final Fantasy WikiProject. Some of us over at that WikiProject decided to turn various components of Final Fantasy X, such as Pyreflies, Yevon, and the backstory — into an article describing the world of Spira. Location descriptions were given a List of locations in Spira article, and the details themselves were placed on the Spira (Final Fantasy X) page. This is a decent template to follow — however, we will need to place priority on out-of-universe, "real life" topics and perspectives in realtion to the article.

Sounds confusing, eh? It won't, for examples will be popping up left and right in the near future!

Signed...

Taking Back Sunday

Hey, sorry for the misunderstanding. While their new music does have more of an emo sound to it, I do not think I would classify it as post-hardcore. Post-hardcore usually has screaming in it, such as bands like Chiodos, Atreyu, stuff like that. Taking Back Sunday, I agree is emo, but their older stuff, ie, Where You Want To Be, Tell All Your Friends definately has a pop-punk feel to it, similar to Fall Out Boy or Hawthorne Heights. But I agree with you, I think Rock/Emo, and possibly Post-Hardcore would be alright with me, I just reverted your edit because when ever I see a genre change I think that it's some supposed Punk fanatic who believes that only The Damned should be listed as punk. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding. Thanks! --DieHard2k5 | Talk 03:50, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
