Summoning Magic [(Main article)] calls forth magical creatures to attack enemies and/or heal or protect party members. The mechanics of Summon Magic vary from game to game, including which characters are capable of using it, how it is utilized, and how new summon spells are acquired. Despite the significant differences in Summon Magic across the series, it has appeared in one form or another since Final Fantasy III in the main numbered series, as well as spin-off titles.

The official names of summons in different Final Fantasy games varies. Summons are used in Final Fantasy III, IV, V, VII, and Final Fantasy: Unlimited. Espers are used in VI and XII. Guardian Forces in VII, Eidolons in IX, Aeons in X, and Avatars in XI.

Note: The first two Final Fantasy games do not feature summoning magic. Final Fantasy X-2 features Aeons, but they cannot be used by the party. Several summons have been used in other Final Fantasy games as monsters, only bosses are labled.

Three main Summons are Ifrit ,Shiva and Bahamut that made the most appearance in the Final Fantasy Series.
