Analysis of Article
[edit]The introduction has very little information about wild boar hogs. The general history of the wild boar was not very discussed as well as the overall description. There are many methods of hunting wild boar such as rifle hunts, baiting and using hog calls that I would like to add to the article. The original article gave a brief description of wild boars which wasn't enough information to give the reader a basic understanding. I decided to add more information about the appearance and habitat. Also, I discussed the diet of wild boars.

Revised paragraph from article
[edit]Original
[edit]The wild boar (Sus scrofa) is the ancestral species of the domestic pig. It is native across much of Central Europe, the Mediterranean Region (including North Africa's Atlas Mountains) and much of Asia as far south as Indonesia, and has been widely introduced elsewhere.
Currently, wild boars are hunted both for their meat and to mitigate any damage they may cause to crops and forests. A charging boar is considered exceptionally dangerous quarry, due to its thick hide and dense bones, making anything less than a kill shot a potentially deadly mistake. Hunters[who?] have reported being butted up into trees by boars that have already taken a glancing shot.[citation needed]

[edit]The wild boar (Sus scrofa) is the ancestral species of the domestic pig. It is native across much of Central Europe, the Mediteranean Region (including North Africas Atlas Mountains) and much of Asia as far south as Indonesia, and has been widely introduced elsewhere.
Currently, wild boars are hunted both for their meat and to mitigate any damage they may cause to crops and forest. They also pose a serious threat to livestock. A wild boar can easily kill a small animal such as a calf or chicken. Intimidating in appearance and aggressive in nature, a charging boar is considered exceptionally dangerous quarry due to its thick hide and dense bones, making anything less than a kill shot a potentially deadly mistake.
Original Contribution
[edit]The wild boar hog is widely distributed all across the world. It is native to the forest of Europe and is found all across Asia. Although it is not native to North American, boar hogs can be found in almost every state. They were brought to North America by the Spanish in the 1500's and also in the 1800-1900s by hunters who wanted to hunt with dogs. Their habitat ranges from swamps to grass fields and they will eat almost anything that falls to the ground. A boar hog is easy to identify do to its anatomy and appearance. An average boar has a large head and sturdy front legs while the hind end becomes smaller. They have a double coat of fur with the coarser, stronger hair on top and the softer hair underneath. Its color varies from dark brown to black to light grey or red. The wild boar is very nearsighted but has a amazing sense of smell and hearing. The diet of most wild boars is plants and roots but they also eat berries, grasses, fruits and are also known to eat small animals such as snakes and lizards.
