- Rapanyane, M.B., 2021. Neocolonialism and New imperialism: Unpacking the Real Story of China’s Africa Engagement in Angola, Kenya, and Zambia. Journal of African Foreign Affairs, 8(3), pp.89–112.[1]
- This is a recent and comparative research published by a peer-reviewed foreign affairs journal, so it should be reliable. Goes very in depth, explicitly takes an Afrocentric perspective, and is interested in both balancing blanket narratives of Chinese neo-imperialism while affirming unfair power dynamics. Definitely adds notability.

- Has a lot of loaded language about Chinese intrusion into Kenya, but does seem to be a thorough survey of Chinese-Kenya BRi interactions. From a relatively small, peer-reviewed journal led by a rather unprestigious university - will investigate further for reliability. Definitely adds notability.
