Wasabi Wallet

Wasabi Wallet is Free_and_open-source_software that is the first, non-custodial Bitcoin wallet to implement "Chaumian CoinJoin" as a way of bringing a degree of privacy back to Bitcoin transactions. It is an experimental project; currently being developed by the team at ZK-SNACKS, headed by Twitter user @NoPara73.

Features

Wasabi Wallet, currently available on MAC OSX, Linux and Windows aims to provide privacy and fungibility in a variety of ways.

First and foremost, Wasabi has built-in Tor connectivity. While not perfect, Tor enabled by default is a distinction from nearly all wallets currently available for users.

Second, and argueably the most interesting feature of Wasabi wallet, is it's use of Coinjoin transactions. CoinJoin is a privacy protocol that protects Bitcoin transaction privacy by allowing multiple parties to send funds within a single transaction without the risk of theft. As Bitcoin has gained popularity over the years, so has the technology behind tracking and de anonymizing the transactions, in a process known as a chain analysis. As a result, the fungible nature of Bitcoin is being threatened, and the Coinjoin protocol is one proposal to bring back some privacy to the user. While the technology isn't new, Wasabi Wallet is the first light client to implement it at scale.

Lastly, Wasabi allows users to choose which "coins" they would like to spend. This allows the user to see the full history of a coin, and all information associated with it. and then decide if they would like to send it to the other party. This further restores privacy, and choice back to a user by allowing them to understand the privacy trade offs they would otherwise be ignoring if they were to simply use a wallet that doesn't have this feature.

As of December 25, 2018, Wasabi Wallet has helped make 2051 BTC fungible. The first Coinjoin on Wasabi Wallet took place on August 1st, 2018.
