Miyazaki's influence was first visible during episode 8 and he personally animated a complicated dance scene during episode 14.[2]
Despite the change in tone and style that the series developed from it's change in personal, the series was cancelled due to low ratings of 7%.[citation needed] Despite 26 episodes being planned and given story synopsis, only 23 episodes were completed.[3] The final episode was broadcast on March 26, 1972.[4]

Lupin's SSK was changed to a Fiat 500 due to the difficulty in drawing the SSK. Otsuka had to correct the drawings because no one else could draw it correctly. Miyazaki suggested he replaced the SSK with the Fiat 500 which Otsuka was driving at the time. [6] No unified look in the show due to changes in production and techniques. [7]
During the series Lupin wears a green coloured jacket instead of a red jacket used by Monkey Punch for the manga. The change was requested by Osumi.[8]
