Porton Down is a technology park situated slightly North-East of Porton (village) near Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. To the North-West lies the MoD Boscombe Down test range facility which is owned by QinetiQ. On maps, Porton Down has a "Danger Area" surrounding the entire complex.
It is home to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, Porton Down (Dstl, Porton Down) as it is officially known, which is believed to be one of the United Kingdoms most sensitive and secretive government facilities for military research, including CBRN defence. The Dstl site is the head office[1] of 9 installations across Britain [2]. Dstl is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Defense (MOD).
