Day’Shawn Terrell Edwards-Ramirez also know as “DMIFINESSE” was born July 12th,2006 and is a 16 year old rap artist from Des Moines Iowa. He has faced many challenges in his life such as airway health issues and being born premature at 2lbs-2oz. He’s undergone 78+ surgeries on his airway and had to get a tracheotomy put in at a very young age his first ever surgery was a airway reconstruction where the doctors had to take rib cartilage and put it in his neck and vocal area. Has 3 biological brothers and together they were raised on the East Side of Des Moines for most of their upbringings. DMI FINESSE has also faced tragic and emotional struggles throughout his rap career and life and learned he has to take risks and make sacrifices such as spending money behind his families back and stressed and struggled to become the most successful rapper possible and dedicate his life to the grind. Ever since he chose to become a rap artist he’s faced a bunch of hate and criticism and also a bunch of love and support from his family, friends, fans, and loved ones. People would criticize him because of his sound sonically and that his airway was damaged and had to be reconstructed. But that didn’t stop him from focusing and moving forward in the rap/hip-hop industry. At a young age DMI FINESSE had to move from home to at first from having to live with his grandparents on his Mom’s side and at another point living with his grandparents on his dad’s side of the family. Also at the age of 4 he had to live in Cincinnati for 2 months and that’s when his doctor rediscovered the tracheotomy and his trache was put back in his airway and then they invented a purple cap so he was able to speak out of the trache. Day’Shawn also had to learn sign language before he was able to talk and use proper words. Then he returned to Beaverdale located in Iowa where his grandparents on his Mom’s side were located. Day’Shawn attended pre school which is named Madison Elementary and kindergarten which is named Samuelson in Beaverdale. Then in first grade he moved to the East Side of Des Moines and lived with his grandparents on his Dad’s side until 5th grade. In First Grade that’s where he met his life long friend Oshay Deon Franklin as know as DMI I$O. Day’Shawn found a passion for music in first grade of 2012-2013 school year when his dad brought in a boombox speaker and a microphone for his birthday celebration and a cake and they made him put the cake in the nurses office. Also sometimes Day’Shawn had to miss out on events and fun activities because of critical asthma issues. But he also played flag football and rec league basketball and he played basketball in Middle school and High School as well. DMI FINESSE recorded his first song on SoundCloud Voice Memos and got criticized heavily on that song. He also continued to work with DMI I$O on voloco and audacity on a smoking old computer from 2008. But then in 2021 during COVID over texting on Instagram and wanting to make music together Axel Aaron Ramirez also know as 14$T. But now DMI FINESSE, DMI I$O, and 14$T do music together sometimes but they are also their own solo artists and record music locally in Des Moines, Iowa at Carousel Studios and their Engineer is Alex Arthur they’ve been going to Carousel Studios since April 30th, of 2022. Therefore they recorded their first studio quality tracks Bankroll and Less Luv More Money. And now DMI FINESSE has a song out on all platforms called MOSHP!T available on Apple Music, SoundCloud, YouTube Music & YouTube, Spotify, IHEARTRADIO, & Genius. He appreciates all the support and love he receives and one message towards his fans is always take risks and sacrifices and to always work hard and to never give up on your hopes and dreams and that hard work will always pay off.
