From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since the mid-20th century, art perennial exhibitions have grown from seven to hundreds of biennials, art fairs, and museums. Critics of the Biennial discount its enormity, from its turgid and unfocused central exhibition to its antiquated convention of national pavilions. It is also known as overly commercial, known for its support by the ultrawealthy who arrive by yacht and their parties.[1]

Current

[edit]

current viewership rates[1]

documenta better funded/weightier than VB, but lacks its joie de vivre, brand, and art historical importance[1]

VB show can define a career: Pipilotti Rist (1997), Anne Imhof (2017)[1]

commercial galleries organize independent events throughout Venice[1]

cf. Davos WEF or UN Climate Change Summit: unwieldy, chaotic, with some worth/"brilliance amid the preposterous posturing"[1]
