About me
[edit]Despite the number in my username y’all can call me CycoMa (or just Cyco works too). Feel free to pronounce my username however you like. The origin of my username is honestly a mystery even to me.
I’ve been contributing to Wikimedia since the late 2010s when I was a teenager, I was initially editing as an IP editor. I created this account in 2020 when I was 18 years old and recently graduated high school.
Can’t say there is really anything interesting to say about myself, I am basically just some typical guy from the United States.
My potential COI
[edit]I know without a shadow of a doubt that I have family members who have connections with, are serving, or used to serve in the United States Armed Forces. Basically I was a military brat, but I don't remember moving around all that much.
Keep in mind I am still a pretty young man. As of March 2025, CycoMa is in his early 20s.
My mother is possibly a member of the Hatfield family(Yes the one from the Hatfield-McCoy feud ) and my father other the hand is likely a descendant of Michel Cadotte.
I am aware a lot of American families (or Americans in general) like to claim Native American ancestry such as Elvis Presley, Jackson Family, and Elizabeth Warren.
The ancestry of my father seems likely for numerous reasons.
It appears to be backed up by secondary sources. Literally a book called Cadotte Family Stories mentions the name of his grandmother and grandfather. Although at first glance this source doesn’t appear to be reliable, I have noticed that it has been cited as a source by various scholarly sources and has been in the libraries of many universities.
Many other individuals on my dad’s family tree appear in other secondary sources as well, and these sources have directly said these individuals are descendants of Michel Cadotte. Many of them have even been photographed and photos of these individuals are present in secondary sources. The sources on many individuals especially the more contemporary relatives or potential relatives appear to alight with each other.
Can’t say how reliable my father is, but he’s a journalist with connections to the University of Missouri and the United States Armed Forces.
The only thing I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt is that he has family registered or associated with Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe. The issue is that I don’t have many memories of his family or I don’t know many of them due to complicated reasons. I remember a cousin of his claiming she’s a member of the tribe, I only saw her once mind you.
I do have a lot of memories of my mom’s family. All I can say for certain is that my mother’s maiden name is Hatfield, she and her family also have a long history with drugs and violence. I found tons of newspapers reporting on all the things my relatives from mom's side. I just am not 100% sure about my mom’s connection to the Hatfields in the family feud.
There is some evidence for this connection, but the evidence I can find so far is only primary sources. I don’t know if any historians have made any connections yet. But then again the surname is shared by over 30,000 Americans. I also believe there appears to be 3 separate families in colonial America with that surname.
I only feel the need to mention family history due to WP:COI. I plan to edit on topics relating to this in the future. I do acknowledge that this kind of stuff does have strong relevance to many people in the modern day. I believe many members of tribes get benefits and I do believe some living descendants of the Hatfields and McCoys do take the past seriously.
