Submission declined on 22 October 2024 by DoubleGrazing (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by DoubleGrazing 2 months ago. |
Eric Matheny is a McDonalds worker and civil rights activist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He currently works in Allentown, Pennsylvania and has been named employee of the month in February 2024 and March 2024. Matheny was born on September 8, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. His parents are Peter Matheny and Olga Matheny. As a kid, Eric had many friends and was popular at school. But it all came crashing down when he found out McDonalds was closing its Oklahoma City location. In a recent interview, Matheny quoted, "I had to put a stop to this, I couldn't let McDonalds close in such a city". When he was 14, he abandoned his family and flew to Oklahoma City to stop the closing. On November 23, 2008, a day before the McDonalds was closing, he threatened the rob the then McDonalds CEO, Jim Skinner, and threatened to send his dog to the Russian government. Because of this, Skinner didn't close the McDonalds and left it open. The people of Oklahoma City celebrated this achievement. In 2009, Oklahoma governor Brad Henry declared every November 23rd in Oklahoma a state-wide holiday. Today, millions across the state celebrate and Tulsa hosts the biggest celebration ever.
