Atoll SAMU

[edit]

The first version of the Atoll SAMU tool was developed in 2003 in response to a custom requirement for the merger of two banks. The tool was developed to support the consolidation, by modeling the two banks’ application architectures, according to a common meta-model. SAMU’s focus is on modeling how the different initiatives change the architecture. It provides impact analysis reports to help in decision making. SAMU has a flexible meta-model and advanced architecture visualization capabilities. All user and administrative functions are available in a web-browser. Current release: v5.60, GA 05.12.2016.

Use case examples:

  • Support pre-merger decision making and post-merger consolidation;
  • Plan and govern large scale transformation initiatives (eg. Digital transformation, core system replacement);
  • Establish a single service model for planning, implementation and change management;
  • Compliance to regulations eg. PCI DSS;
  • Data governance;

Main characteristics of the tool:

  • Repository-based: all data (including configuration) are stored in a single database;
  • Flexible meta-model: there is no “built-in” meta-model. It can be configured over the GUI;
  • Generate visual architecture models: data query based models and other reports generated by the tool;
  • Comes with Atoll’s best practice framework: Atoll delivers it with a complete best-practice framework, which can be modified;
  • Web-only: all user and administrative functions are provided in a web browser;
  • On-premise software or Saas: The same functionality is available either as an on-premise software or as a cloud service.
