Régis de Cacqueray-Valménier, also known by the name Father Joseph of Avallon (O.F.M. Cap.), is a French Traditionalist Catholic priest. He was born the 30th July 1967 in Avallon and was ordained by Licinio Rangel in 1992; afterwards, he was appointed the Superior General of the District of France from 2002 to 2014 for the Society of Saint Pius X, founded by Marcel Lefebvre.Cite error: The opening <ref>

Biography
[edit]He is from a family of nine children, and part of the minor nobility of Normandy.[1]
In 2002, he was appointed as the District Superior of France for the SSPX. In September 2005, for various reasons he removed Father Philippe Laguérie from the SSPX.[2]
During his time as Superior General for the SSPX, he was engaged in many activities; notably leading prayers before the French National Assembly in opposition to homosexual marriage, accompanied by the association Civitas[3].
On the 15th August 2014, Régis de Cacqueray quitted the SSPX to enter into the Order of the Capuchins of Morgon, in Villié-Morgon, department of Rhône.[4]
Since Summer 2018, he has also been one of the chaplains of Civitas and a columnist for their magazine. [5]
