You might want to reconsider your vote or change your reasoning. It turns out the site you thought belonged to the company isn't the correct one. - Mgm|(talk) 07:47, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Oops - got to it too late. Thanks for the heads up. I still don't think it would have mattered - there are several billion companies that feel they're going to have the next great breakthrough with H.264, so why should this team be any different? - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 06:43, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Probably best to make a separate nom. People are more comfortable voting delete in separate AFDs. Bundle them and people start to wonder if they should really be bundled and not considered on their own separate merits. On Wikipedia, in my experience, you can sink more boats with precise targetting. — coelacan talk — 05:25, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Also, WP:DRV process hounds (such as myself) usually have an easier time overturning bundled nominations, although this is not universally true. — coelacan talk — 05:27, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
If you want, I'll unbundle them and make the separate nom, since you've already done quite a bit. — coelacan talk — 05:29, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Parks

I have been going over the pages for the national parks recently and have discovered that 2 different sources are being reported for visitation statistics. In some cases, the 'recreational visitors' total is shown, while in others it is the 'total visitors.' Obviously, this needs to be standardized one way or another, and I chose the 'total' number, but using the other would be fine as well. Either way, though, it would be for the best for one number or the other to be used consistantly, and it should be labeled accordingly. Agree? Mr. Vitale 04:01, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, CosmicPenguin. You and I seem to be having similar conversations with VitaleBaby. Maybe we can find a more public place to have this discussion... --orlady 04:36, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

I removed your edit to Jackson Hole, Wyoming - Harrison Ford is already mentioned in Jackson, Wyoming, and thats a better location for that sort of trivia. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 00:55, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

If you look at Ford's page, it lists him as a resident of Jackson Hole, not Jackson. So why would Jackson be a better place for this? --Schmendrick 18:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Project tag

Thanks for adding the project tag to Rock Springs Massacre, last time I tried to the page was still in user space! Nice to see it live. : )IvoShandor 02:18, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Winchester, Wyoming -- Only item of interest I could find and add easily was the name source, from Epodunk... That's all folks, Stepp-Wulf 00:27, 9 May 2007 (UTC).

Bitter Creek

Thanks, I just went of the USGS names database which can be confusing at best. Nice catch, it's a challenge for me since I live in Illinois, I have to rely on what sources say. Thanks again. IvoShandor 06:52, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

PFC or LPCL Phelps?

I saw that you reverted my change to Chance Phelps wiki page. When he died, he was in fact wearing PFC Rank, but in the mix up of his deployment, the paperwork for his promotion was en route to his location that would have made him LCPL. In addition, he was posthumously promoted to Lance Corporal, so officially this is and was his rank. And this is as official as it's going to get: I'm his brother-in-law.

Cheyenne Club

Hi CosmicPenguin,

Help me out here, I'm hopelessly confused. You added a comment on the Talk:Cheyenne, Wyoming page (diff) saying you removed two paragraphs from the article. However, there is no edit to the actual article by you on May 25th shown in the history. In fact, the article has no edits shown in the history from October 2006 to May 2007. An anon editor left a message on the talk page complaining that a lot of info had been removed, and I left a snide reply that it was the same size as in October 2006. But now I'm wondering if it was, indeed, bigger, but information got deleted and the history got corrupted.

Any insight? I'm not disputing your removal of the paragraphs, by the way, just trying to figure out what's going on. --barneca (talk) 13:32, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Ermm - yeah - it looks like something bad happened - we're missing a few months of history, and I know that edits happened during that time. Also, my removal of those paragraphs isn't in my contribution history anymore (but my edit to the Talk page still is). Sounds like something that somebody should look in to. Thanks for pointing it out. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 18:32, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
I've been sleuthing (inefficiently) and just figured it out. All edits in those 7 months were removed by an admin due to an apparently massive copyright violation. I won't link to specific sections because it's time consuming, but if you look at the bottom of User talk:Barneca, the bottom of Wikipedia:Village pump (technical), the bottom of Talk:Cheyenne, Wyoming and the bottom of User talk:Garion96, you'll get the flavor. --barneca (talk) 18:43, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Killpecker

Sweet. I added a picture and a disambig to Red Desert. I think the Killpecker Dunes should have their own page one of these days. Ok! 02:24, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Rock Springs

Thanks you. It wasn't easy but somehow it was pulled off. I never thought it would take so much work but I am really, really pleased with the result. I think that article is quite worthy of its designation of Featured. Thanks again. IvoShandor 14:52, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Various fake Balkans sportspeople

I permanently blocked the author and am seeking confirmation of the block at WP:ANI since I've never done a permanent block before (I'm a new admin) and want to get some warm and fuzzies there. FYI. Thanks for helping out on these articles. Carlossuarez46 06:59, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Why did you delete me?

Hello, I was just wondering why you deleted Nathan Deeprose

Hi CosmicPenguin. Thanks for sorting out my mistake. I should have looked through history. Will try to be more diligent in the future. Good AfD summary. Have added my opinion. -- SiobhanHansa 13:10, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Moose-Wilson Road

Just wanted to know that I amiably disagree with your decision to have Wyoming Highway 390 a redirect to Wilson Road, and that I've proposed turning them around, making M-W Road a redirect to 390. If you'd like to participate in the discussion, please see my comment at the bottom of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. Roads. Have a good Sunday! Nyttend 04:46, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

chain barnstar

The Chain Barnstar of Recognition
For making a difference! This Barnstar isn't free, this is a chain barnstar, as payment please give this star to at least 3-5 others with 500+ edits but no barnstar.

You may find the conditions of this barnstar annoying; feel free ignore it if it cuts into your useful editing time. I got one of these a bit back and am only now working on paying it, but when I couldn't find any barnstars on your page, and saw that you seem to have made quite a few good contributions, both in the mainspace and deletion discussions, I thought you deserve it. Rigadoun (talk) 17:47, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Actually, the origin of the name is disputed (see Grand Teton). Even if the name of the mountains originated from the French word for breasts, the name only applies to the three members of the cathedral group, and not the entire range. I guess it might be suitable to discuss the origins of the name, but the sources from Grand Teton should be re-used to emphasis the controversial origins of the naming. Personally, I think it adds nothing to the article. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 17:10, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Cosmic, thanks for the clarification. Sorry if my edit summary was a bit snippy. I remember from my time spent in the Tetons that the name was derived from the french word for breast so I thought it was relevant. Anyways, no biggie either way. Cheers! --Tom 17:40, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Hi...I am curious why you removed certaiun elements from the page of Amiram Barkai? Thank you...I am knew to this and am curious as to what the guidlines are.

I tagged the page with the copy vio stuff, but I could use a second person to watch it, since they seem to move fast at reverting stuff. Thanks. GreenJoe 03:01, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

I've got an eye on it now. Thanks for moving just as fast.. :) - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 03:02, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Also keep an eye on The Scotty and Alex Show. They seem to be creating articles everywhere. GreenJoe 03:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Regarding the Dennis Erickson article

This user is clearly getting testy, and although I've done a 24 hour block as per policy, I'd like to see if he can be talked into being productive and adding information to where it would be useful. Please be careful to not get dragged in too far because I've seen well-meaning users also get punished for a 3RR rule violations. I will try to coral any further edits. --Bobak 14:30, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm not going to get near 3RRs - the RfC is up, and I'll let it stew for a while. Thanks. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 15:56, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Please stop making "unattributed" edits to this section. You have never discussed any reason for making the edits you most recently made- openly. OR challenged any of my recent edits... What is your problem??? Leave the section alone, or I am going to recommend blocking you for vandalism! You are reaching that point where you are making trite and meaningless edits with absolutely ZERO substantiation. Knock it off!!! Welcome to Wikipedia. Although we invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Owen Wister, was not constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 14:36, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

That is a totally baseless attack. I made a good edit and you reverted it with totally spurious and empty allegations that it was vandalism. Please see Wikipedia:Assume good faith, Wikipedia:Civility, and Wikipedia:No personal attacks. Seaaron 20:41, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Please do not make spurious allegations of vandalism

A good faith edit is not vandalism. You may not agree with my good faith and constructive reordering of categories, but it is totally out of order to respond with allegations of vandalism. I will be drawing your conduct bad faith conduct to the attention of the wider community. Seaaron 20:45, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

I also agree with the above. A good faith edit is not vandalism. You may not agree but it is totally out of order to respond with allegations of vandalism. I consider your edits of my truths vandalism. I will be drawing your conduct of bad faith to the attention of the wider community. User:pete_fa_brown 23:15, September 2007 (UTC)

I find this thread, oddly, confusing. Wister not Mister, hmmm...IvoShandor 10:57, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Cisco Utah

Emergy Telecom is the rural phone company that serves Greenriver, Utah, Price Utah and Cisco. So before you make allegations check the phone book.

see the website http://www.etv.net/

trueblood 05:16, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Except for the website you link is for "Emery Telcom" (no G). Emergy Telcom, which you insist in linking to Cisco does not exist 75.141.208.84 07:35, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

call emery telecom and ask them about Cisco. Emery telecom just installed the pad for the fiber switch. Talk to Dave Emery and also ask him who owns the town of cisco

Bias

Mr. Cosmic Pengiun from reading this page I see you are not an unbias fair minded person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pete fa brown (talkcontribs) 11:53, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Everyone is biased - its just a matter of not letting let your bias cloud your judgment. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 14:36, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I cannot for the life of me figure out why you have reverted this comment. Twice! [1], [2] I think its perfectly reasonable for me to respond, given the borderline personal attack. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 16:33, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Let Er Buck

Thanks for the award! I appreciate it and have added to my subpage where I keep those sorts of things. The article was a pleasure to work on, and it's great that Wikipedia has given me the opportunity to highlight a little known, but nonetheless extremely important chapter in American history. Ah, yes, both I, and Wikipedia, are now the better for it. Thanks again. IvoShandor 10:04, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

My apologies for the Notable natives section; I knew that there were guidelines (here), but I remembered them wrongly. Nyttend 12:16, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Ah, sorry; I've long been familiar (or at least known about) these guidelines. Perhaps you could post a link to this on the project page, for the sake of other project members? Nyttend 18:57, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
