This is a page for the proposed 'Children and Youth issues' WikiProject

Proposal

This would focus on political and social issues affecting children and youth, and work to add more detail and organisation to currently existing pages, adding references, describing contemporary debates (as current pages are usually no more than lists or brief descriptions).

Where to start

The primary points of departure would be the articles: Youth rights and Children's rights movement (which i propose should be renamed just 'Children's RIghts'). The focus would be on provding fuller, more dteailed backgrounds, more expert input, references and so forth. Specific issues such as Drinking age Voting age and Age of consent are currently no more than lists. These need to be updated with the debates and issues surrouding them.

Some issues are currently solely covered by articles on law. Such as Youth crime (which redirects to Juvenile Delinquency and Emancipation of minors. These do not cover the debates on the subject, such as public opinion on youth crime/media distortion/representation etc. This should either be added to the articles, or have new articles created for them.

A portal may be a good first-step to organising this project.
