From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm a former journalist and occasional historian with a longstanding fascination with Wikipedia.

Early in my career, newspapers often served the function of Wikipedia-- that is, it was the reporter's job to provide the reader with sufficient background about a subject so that they could understand the significance of a particular development. Figuring out how to track down that information was half the fun of the job.

I live in Portland, Oregon, and have written for many local and national newspapers and magazines. I also worked as a reporter in Singapore in the late 1990s and am the author of "Lee's Law," a biography of Singapore politician JB Jeyaretnam.

I currently work at Reed College as editor of Reed Magazine. While 99.9% of my work there has nothing to do with Wikipedia, I do occasionally edit articles that have a Reed connection, such as articles on Reed alumni. I am excited to be part of the Wikipedia community and am always happy to hear feedback from and share ideas with other Wikipedians.
