This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). How to improve a draft
You can also browse Wikipedia:Featured articles and Wikipedia:Good articles to find examples of Wikipedia's best writing on topics similar to your proposed article. Improving your odds of a speedy review To improve your odds of a faster review, tag your draft with relevant WikiProject tags using the button below. This will let reviewers know a new draft has been submitted in their area of interest. For instance, if you wrote about a female astronomer, you would want to add the Biography, Astronomy, and Women scientists tags. Editor resources

Sattik Bhaumik FRAS AMInstP (born April 15, 2004) is an Indian student astronomer and physicist, currently pursuing undergraduate studies at Minerva University. He is known for his contributions to exoplanet astronomy, particularly in assessing the habitability of exoplanets using the Earth Similarity Index (ESI).
Early life and education
[edit]Sattik Bhaumik was born on April 15, 2004, in Siliguri, India. He completed his secondary education at Auxilium Convent School under the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), passing the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) in 2020. He then attended Don Bosco School, Siliguri, completing his Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination in 2022.
In 2023, Bhaumik enrolled at Minerva University to study Natural Sciences, focusing on Physics and Astronomy, with an additional concentration in Computer Science emphasizing Mathematics, Data Science, and Statistics.
Research and contributions
[edit]He is the founder of the Theory of Nothingness, which uses Quantum Fluctuations to describe the origin of the Big Bang Singularity. Bhaumik's primary research focuses on exoplanet habitability for now. In 2022, he co-authored a paper titled "Studying habitability of the exoplanets Kepler-504 b, Kepler-315 b, and Kepler-315 c," published in the Journal of Emerging Investigators. This study, available here, employed the Earth Similarity Index to evaluate the potential habitability of these exoplanets.
He has presented his research at international conferences, including the GHOU-2021 International Astronomy Conference. His research papers are also accessible on platforms like arXiv and NASA ADS.
He also worked on a paper as a single author which was selected by the Columbia University's Undergraduate Science Journal (CUSJ) as a headline paper in its Spring Journal, which is to be published in early 2025. This paper was a continued study on the habitability research on the three exoplanets from his last research where he uses Statistical-likelihood Exo-Planetary Habitability Index (SEPHI).
Affiliations and honors
[edit]Sattik Bhaumik holds several notable memberships and honors:
- Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS): Elected in May 2024.
- Associate Member of the Institute of Physics (AMInstP): Recognized for contributions to physics.
- Junior Member at the European Astronomical Society.
- Undergraduate Student Member of the American Astronomical Society (AAS).
- Member of the American Physical Society (APS).

Awards and recognitions
[edit]- International Space Olympiad: Achieved an international rank of 10th.
- International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition: Three-time consecutive finalist, earning silver honors.
Personal life
[edit]Bhaumik has a keen interest in video games, analyzing their themes and philosophical underpinnings. He also enjoys reading, particularly topics related to astronomy, philosophy, science fiction, and classic literature.
