This is an informal project focused on articles related to the United Soccer League organization and its past and present leagues, clubs, players, etc. It falls under the scope of the US/Canada taskforce of Wikiproject Football.

Goals

  1. Improve current articles on USL's org, leagues, clubs, players, seasons, etc. past and present
    1. Priority for active players, clubs, leagues, etc.
  2. Keep creating new articles related to USL (when notability dictates)
  3. Reach out to users who may be interested in the project
  4. Have fun and help each other out!

2024/25 Broad Projects

USL

  • Create and maintain 2025 season articles for professional USL clubs
    • Start with clubs of interest and expand from there
    • Championship - 17 left to be created
    • League 1 - 6/14 left to be created
    • Super League - 8/8 created, need to maintain
  • Create & maintain 2025 W & L2 league-wide season articles

Championship

  • Keep article for 2025 USL Championship season up to date
  • Create 2025 club season articles (need 19 more)
  • Improve 2022 season article (add missing average attendances)
  • Improve all club article to at least C-quality (8/24)
  • Create missing club season articles (pre-2025)
    • At least 11 needed for 2023 in USL Championship

Super League

  • Create USL Super League articles as more info comes out about 2024/25 season & clubs
    • Create separate pages for teams that are part of men's clubs (i.e. Lexington, Brooklyn) once enough separate info is out, flesh out club pages first and then split
  • As more info comes out, improve important related articles to start quality (clubs first): Tampa Bay Sun FC, Spokane Zephyr FC
  • Improve USL Super League to C-class quality
    • Add history section, mention initial reports
    • Find history of other professional 2nd division leagues in US
    • Potentially add likely bids section, much like NWSL's expansion article
    • Mention Oakland's reported interest in NWSL, creation of W League side
    • Add likely potential of W League teams moving up to USLS based on trajectory of clubs in men's side of USL

USL League One

  • Improve league article to C-class quality
  • Expand history section, add more context from previous league's history, info about new W League's planning and creation

USL League Two

  • Improve main article & add non-primary sources (local & national coverage) on club articles to improve notability
  • Add conference breakdown? See 2015 PDL article
  • Add number of clubs and divisions to intro of season articles
    • Need to add to 2006 and earlier

  • Improve all current USL pro club articles from "stub" to "start" quality
    • Men's stubs left: Texoma FC, Westchester SC
      • Evaluated Texoma FC and it meets minimum standards to be start quality article
    • Women's stubs left: Spokane Zephyr FC
      • Evaluated Spokane Zephyr FC and it meets minimum standards to be start quality article
  • Improve current league & org articles to C-quality from Start: USL, W League, Super League
  • Improve USL stadium articles (focus on actively used stadiums)
  • Create missing USL season articles for current pro clubs
  • Create missing season articles for old W-League: 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002
  • Put club maps into various league season articles
    • Active leagues
      • L1: ?
      • L2: 2025; 2022 and prior seasons
      • SL: ?
      • W: ?
    • Defunct leagues
      • USL PRO leagues: ?

  • Add "Division changes" section to USL League 2 and W League articles for when divisions are added, subtracted, renamed, etc.
    • At start, just mention in intro paragraph
  • Add "Progression of expansion" table or section to USL League 2 or W League pages? (Such as on USL Championship)
  • Add citations to List of USL League Two teams
  • Improve amateur club articles (L2 & W), make sure they have non-primary (club or league) references to establish notability
  • Improve past and future USL pro club articles from "stub" quality
    • Priority for non-2nd/reserve teams
