Chris John Agee is a political sociologist and historian with undergraduate and graduate degrees from the City University of New York, the New School for Social Research and the Complutense University of Madrid. He is also the editor of the newly relaunched CovertAction Magazine, originally founded by his father, Philip Agee, among others.
For the past 15 years, he has taught political science and sociology at the City University of New York, the Bolivarian University of Venezuela, the State University of New York and Hofstra University. Agee's research focuses on the developments and impacts of late capitalism on peace and war, exploitation and oppression, global health and the environment. His focus is primarily on political economy, social movements, revolutionary processes and U.S. foreign policy. He has written numerous articles for publications including the “North American Congress on Latin America” (NACLA) and The International Encyclopedia of Revolutions and Protest: 1500 to Present. In addition to investigating the historical, socio-economic, and political role of structure and agency, he is particularly interested in collective action and social justice movements that confront the resulting conditions.
