Brief bibliography
Bug and Byte are two fictional characters in the DC Universe. They debuted in the Fury of Firestorm #23 and # 24. They were created
by Gerry Conway and Rafael Kayanan.
Fictional character biography
Belle Haney Bonner was attempting to hold down a full-time job as a computer designer and help raise her two children
Barney and Blythe. She transformed the family garage into computer workshop. One day Belle was working in the workshop with her children when Barney and Blythe connected two live wires. The two wires poured thousands of volts of pure electricity into them.
Frank Bonner kicked his wife and took sole custody. Belle took a job with Concordance Research. Frank drank heavily,
guilty over his decision and let his children believe that their mother deserted them.
Barney and Blythe grew to adolescence and discovered that they had acquired sup-powers from their childhood accident.
They created custom identities known as Bug and Byte and went in search of their mother. This attempt was thwarted by Firestorm and Firehawk. Byte attacked her brother while they fled, causing him to become mentally unbalanced. Belle and Frank Bonner were brought back together by this family tragedy.
Deasthsroke would the two siblings and force them to join the Secret Society of Supervillians. Deathstroke was seen strangling Byte and there whereabouts are unknown.
Powers and abilities
Byte is able to transform herself into pure electricity, transport through phone lines, and create giant images of electricity. She can be shorted out through contact with water or her power source is shut off. Bug can become part of any computer system and then force the system to generate bolts of pure electricity. He can also
transform people into impulses of energy that can be absorbed. Bug and Byte have no hand-to-hand skills nor very athletic.
