BlueSkies Advocates is a free global index of over 180 organizations and X accounts dedicated to promoting the impacts of aviation on both communities and the environment. Established in 2023, the group focuses on advocating for sustainable transportation, raise awareness about the effects of aviation pollution and noise on people, and challenging controversial climate strategies. Its members include local airport opposition groups, environmental journalists, academics, and private citizens.
Mission
[edit]BlueSkies Advocates supports everyone affected by aviation pollution: emissions, flight path noise and pollution coming from commercial aircrafts, cargo, general aviation, helicopters, drones. They share resources, knowledge, information, studies and articles relevant to the topics above.
Outreach
[edit]The group started in Boston in May 2023 as a way to to offer emotional support to people living under flight paths, going through emotional distress. It then evolved into a platform to share resources to help communities tackling airport expansions, and to raise awareness about the impacts of aviation on human health. As of August 2024, its Facebook Group counts 1253 members from all over the world.
