From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am a 17 year old senior attending a high school in a suburb of Seattle, while doing running start at a local community college. I plan to pursue a degree in either aviation or business. I play club soccer and played for my high school since my freshman year. I enjoy reading in my free time along with online shopping.

Article critique

[edit]

I visited the Auguste Vestris page on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its incorrect information, its lack of citations, and the lack of information.

Incorrect Information

[edit]

The second sentence of the article states that Augustes father entered the opera in 1748, while his fathers (Gaétan Vestris) Wikipedia page states that he entered the opera in 1749. Which I am aware is only a year difference, but causes me to not want to fully trust the page.

Citations

[edit]

In this article there is only one external link. However, throughout the article there is links to other wikipedia pages, so not too little, but when there is information that does not have a link to another Wikipedia page there is only one other source, but it is still only used one time.

Lack of Information

[edit]

I know that Auguste Vestris was considered the greatest male dancer of all time, and that isn't mentioned on the page. It does say he was dubbed "the god of dance", which maybe means the same thing to whoever the author is.

Summary

[edit]

In the end, this page is not that great. I understand that he was a dancer from quite a while ago, but there are people that are older that have even better pages. There is wrong information on the page, and not just that, but hardly any information at all. It cites only one source, and I don't know if its just my internet connection, but the link doesn't work.
