Charles Segal is a classically trained, jazz and commercial pianist, and composer. He was bornin Joniškis, Lithuania. At the age of 2, his family fled from Soviet oppression to settle in South Africa. It was in South Africa that Charles studied classical music and developed a successful musical career as a pianist, composer, publisher, arranger and teacher. He was a founding member of the South African Music Rights Organization SAMRO and the Drama and Literary Rights Organization DALRO[1] , and also founded the Charles Segal Music School, the largest of its kind in South Africa. Charles moved to the United States in 1986 where he continued to compose and record songs. To date, Charles Segal has made approximately 16,000 recordings of his own and others’ compositions and is currently attempting to break the Guinness Book of World Records for most recorded composer and performer.
