Sahidnagar Municipality is anciently known as "Yadukuha" that lies in Dhanusha District , formerly Janakpur Zone of south-eastern Nepal and currently in province 2 (name is not declared during the report) of Nepal. In March, 2017, Government of Nepal declared " Yadukuha" as Sahidnagar Municipality. The term "Sahid" means "Martyrs" and "Nagar" means "town", which collectively makes the name of Municipality. It is called Sahidnagar because it is considered as the place of many martyrs who sacrified their lives for democracy, socialism, republic and nationality. In the 1970s, for an entire generation of students of Yadukuha was a code word for fierce resistance, ceaseless struggle and spirit of sacrifice. In the early 1970s (Ashoj 1st, 2029 B.S),  security personnel's laid down two school students, Kameshwor Mandal and kusheshwar Yadav. These two teens become martyrs to the cause of democracy in the long battle against Panchayat System in Nepal. Despite the fact, they sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Nepal but very few remember their names anymore. In mid-1985, Suryanath Ran Yadav, father of communist was arrested for raising voice for equality and freedom for democracy and was put into Siraha prison, later he was killed by the officials under government umbrella by providing him false information that he  has been transferred to Diktail prison , where on the way he was shooted in Beltar forest during rainy night. Similarly, during the People’s Movement of 1990, three rural women (Janaki Devi Yadav, Muneshari Devi Yadav and, Sonabati Devi Yadav) in Gothakuwa and two men ( Ram Narayan Yadav and Uday Sankar Mandal) from Gothakuha and Yadukuha once again embraced death and succeeded in firing the imagination of every freedom-loving Nepali in the country and abroad. In 1996, civil war was started between government of Nepal and Communist Party of Nepal-Moaist (CPN-M) and CPN-M launched the rebellion with the main aim of overthrowing the Nepalese monarchy and establishing a People's Republic. In 1999, some innocents people ( Ram Pukar Yadav, Laptan Yadav, Berenchi Yadav, Phulgen Yadav, Ram Nath Yadav ) were arrested and mass killing was done in barren field by government civilians, putting blame that those shoot peoples have supported the Maoists. Similarly, in 2000 Guliya devi Pashwan resident of Dhanusha was killed in Siraha district in name of member of Maoist team. In addition, Surja Vinwar and Elun Kawadi was killed in the same year in the name of Maoist member. During Maoist insurgency 11 policemen and three civilians lost their lives in the vicinity of Sahidnagar, The land of Sahidnagar produced persons of extraordinary courage, conviction and commitment to democracy and social justice. Shiv Dhari Yadav and Jog Kumar Barbariya (Shrawan Kumar Barbariya Yadav) are well known socialist of this area. This municipality is surrounded by Kamala river in East , Khariyani and, Sanigama in west, Bokhara in North and Giddha, Ekarahi and, Machijhetkaiyain South. It holds a population of 47422 according to 2011 census produced by Government of Nepal. Sahidnagar is center of attraction for many ancient ponds and temple, namely  korari pokhari ( ward no-7), lakes, Barakhi pokhari (ward no 6), Balhuwa Pokhari and Babaji Pokhari ( ward no 2), Maholia Bhageshwari Pokhari ( Ward no: 4 , Anerbat  ko Thaan), Ram Janaki Kuti, Gago Rupani MataTemple. This municipality have given pools of engineers, doctors, secretary, politicians, businessman and, many more to the nation. Sahidnagar municipality have good education and health centers. This is also the place where one can see bunch of bats hanging around the trees of Sahidnagar. Sahidnagar Municipality got the mayor and deputy mayor from the local election held in September 2017, namely Uday Kumar Yadav (Barbariya) as mayor and Sheela Devi Kapar as deputy mayor from Maoist Center. Mr. Barbariya is youngest mayor of Nepal in 2017 local election according to records of Election Commission of Nepal.[A Comprehensive Report of Baseline Survey 2018 1]
