Anonymous users suffer the following limitations. Most, or even all, limitations are instituted for safety reasons.

• New pages cannot be started.
• Edits cannot be marked as minor.
• No watchlist or preferences.
• Cannot edit semi-protected pages. Registered users newer than 4 days old cannot do this, either.
• Cannot rename pages.
• Cannot upload files.
• IP Address is fully visible when an edit is done.
• Cannot be eligible for administrators.

All of these are reasons why you should register.
