EMU Crows

EMU Crows are a semi-professional team based on Famagusta/T.R.N.C.The team is currently applied to be a member of Turkish University Sports Federation.EMU Crows are the one and first team that established in T.R.N.C in the name of American Football.EMU Crows currently based an university team and gets financial support from Social and Cultural Activities Directorate under Eastern Mediterrenean University Board.EMU Crows' sport facilities and home field are in Famagusta in the campus of E.M.U. The team plays their home games at this field nearly 5.000 of audience capacity.

History

Background

The EMU Crows established in T.R.N.C. that not known by the other countries. There were many embargos on the island and team had suffered a long time according to this. The financial support and roster narrowness hindered the team for several years.American Football has known an expensive sport branch due to find, purchase and transportation features of the field and protective equipments.

1999 - 2000 Sparrow Hawks

The team club has founded by Ender Erdoğan, İsmail Akın Erbaş and Bülent Peker who are students of Eastern Mediterrenean University at 1999 - 2000 spring semester. They have their first name as Sparrow Hawks and Bülent Peker as head coach and then İsmail Akın Erbaş as a trainer. They had though times with the core roster.

2000- 2001 Sparrow Hawks

Sparrow Hawks had continued their though trainings by opposing many obstacles. The team had a chance to play their first game with ASFA Scorpions. That was the first game of Sparrow Hawks. The team had select black jerseys for this game and won their first football game.

2001- 2002 EMU Sharks

The name Sparrow Hawks had been changed to Sharks by the Eastern Mediterrenan University Board decision. Ender Erdoğan who was the chairman of Sparrow Hawks from the beginning passed this title to Efe Cem Elçi. The University Board appoint Matthew A. Gould and Nathanael A. May as coaches and get their first jerseys. EMU Sharks had played their secong game with ASFA Scorpions again in Famagusta/T.R.N.C and won and gained their second victory.

2001- 2002 EMU Crows

The name EMU Sharks had changed again by the Eastern Mediterrenean University Board to EMU Crows. The team gained many players and football equipments and look a football team during this period. They had been popular in the campus and city. At the end of the semester Crows had made their first game with the university team in İzmir and lost the game. EMU Crows had started their future plans by sending players to the Global American Football Clinic.

2004- 2005

EMU Crows had continiued their trainings and get ready for their first league appereance but they had a bad season and lost every game except the game between Yeditepe Eagles. They graduate their veteran players and decrease the age average. EMU Crows had sent two players to the American Football Coaching Seminar and five players to the National Team of American Football.
