Description
[edit]This section is copied from User:Qwertyytrewqqwerty/DisamAssist.
DisamAssist is a tool for disambiguating links. Ambiguous links are defined as links to a disambiguation page, a primary topic or a redirect to either (except for links to " (disambiguation)" pages, which are usually intentional).
This tool adds a new option when visiting disambiguation pages, which is called "Disambiguate links". When it is selected, links to the ambiguous term are displayed in a box at the top of the page, along with some context and the title of the page where they appear. The user can then choose to either change the link to remove the ambiguity, by clicking on the relevant option or by manually entering a different title; remove the link altogether (if the link is not important to the context) or do nothing and load the next link.
Changes
[edit]- When revising the target of a redirect, use a simple link [[new target]] rather than a piped link [[new target|old target]].
- Make the creation of a "X (disambiguation)" redirect optional. After declining, do not click "Intentional link to DAB"
- Allow use on SIAs including surname pages. SIAs do not require "X (disambiguation)" redirects.
- To request help with links to SIAs, add {{siadn}} rather than {{dn}}.
Known bugs
[edit]Article titles containing a $ symbol are displayed incorrectly in the panel. Edits seem to work properly; the bug is merely cosmetic.
