A 2018 study found that individuals who identified as pansexual had the highest rates of depression, stress, distress, and self harm (Borgogna et. al., 2018) Additional studies from the University of Zurich found that a source of higher negative mental health rates among bisexual and pansexual individuals came from the denial of their identities, stigmatization, and additional stereotyping which lead to a learned anticipation of rejection (Thöni et. al., 2022).
