My RFA

[edit]
Thanks for your vote.

Hi, this is Matt Yeager. I wanted to thank you for your vote on my request for adminship. The count was something like was 14/20/5 when I decided to withdraw the request. My decision was based on the fact that there are enough things wasting people's time on the Internet that doomed RFA's shouldn't be kept up for voters to have to think about. Regardless of the rationale behind your vote, I hope you will read this note for an extended note and discussion on what will happen before I make another try at adminship (I didn't want to clog up your userpage with drivel that you might not be interested in reading). Thank you very, very much for your vote and your time and consideration of my credentials--regardless of whether you voted support, nuetral, or oppose. Happy editing! Matt Yeager (Talk?) 01:29, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you!
Hello Celestianpower/Archive24. Thank you for your support in my RfA! It passed with a final tally of 91/3/5. I am quite humbled and pleased by the community's show of confidence in me. If you need help or just want to talk, let me know. Cheers! -- Fang Aili 說嗎?

I thought it was good, but I never thought it would survive FAC.. I've not been here long enough to be able to combat everyone's opinions (there are a lot of Pokéhaters) and I'm hated by a lot of people. I always thought that people respected you and the fact that you nominated it meant something to those people, something I can't do.. I may, but I just get the feeling it'll get creamed.. I may though, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 19:07, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Should I? 19:49, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll do it by tonight, I'm currently working on Pikachu and it'll easily slide through GA by Friday. And I found out that we can't have the pictures on the portal.. great. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 19:58, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Done, can it be found here. If you have any like harems in your house, this would be a good time to make them get accounts.. Thank you for the shove, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:07, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
I don't think even read the whole article, oh well.. I'm doing them now. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:57, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
It's fine, I enjoy any comments that aren't me being screamed at (which is often). I've managed to find the rule on illegal evolutions (you have no idea the horror that is pokémon-tcg.com :P) and I'll keep looking. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 23:19, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Aha! I have outwitted Krill! I quote the Wikipedia policy -
"An edit counts as original research if it proposes ideas or arguments. That is, if it does any of the following:
It introduces a theory or method of solution;"
According to this I am allowed to write ""...most likely because of its initial popularity alongside the release of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire"... now that seem flawless! ¬_¬ Tell me why it isn't. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 23:25, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
The Pokéhaters have arrived... Highway Rainbow Sneakers 23:36, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
It's just typical. I think I've fixed up either all or most of Kirill's quibbles (try saying that fast :P) so that's less trouble. I hope he comes back to check up, it's just our luck he won't. Do you think I should remove the note to the sprite designs? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 23:49, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Cel - 1...0 - Pokéhaters hehe :P I'll move it down to External (I added the Bulbapedia stuff there too). I'm still looking for stuff that says Torchic is a hard starter. I'm also still looking for something that says you can pick a starter Pokémon at the start :S Maybe people think it's obvious? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 00:01, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Tell that to Krill.. we're so going down "you haven't explained it's fictional enough".. yes, I know what he means. Just yesterday I was walking down the street and a fire-breathing chicken hopped pass me and attacked an OAP! :O Highway Rainbow Sneakers 00:12, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Problems;
  • personality disorder Pokémonhaters abound
  • we're screwed
  • someone deleted the Pokémon Abilities article... template broken
Thoughts? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 09:19, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
I meant the infobox.. the links is now red in around 200 articles. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 10:16, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, by the way, when is your masterpiece arriving? :P Highway Rainbow Sneakers 10:30, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
What still needs done? It'd be easier to see if we could strike out the stuff we've done, but like that'll happen. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 10:48, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
I'm beginning to feel out of my depth :P The only thing I can think of doing is adding more citation, I don't know how to deal with the other problems without more expansion.. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 11:29, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Why did you revert my edit? It was to my comment.... Highway Rainbow Sneakers 13:14, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
I see you've nominating more article for GA recently, any particular reason? I guess we do have some good articles we need to find, I think Weedle is nearly there too]]. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 13:28, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I'm working on it now. Could you upload a screenshot of something? I think they're getting mad because of the lack of pictures. Pikachu is nearly ready too, it needs the Cultural Impact to be written. There's notes but I've been doing everything else in it. (How many fecking manga series is that rat it?) I found another this morning... great :P By the way, how can we get Bulbasaur onto the main page if it's fair use? I know Spoo did but I don't know about the image.. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 13:59, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Where do you shop? :P Kirill's problems have all been sorted (he disagreed with you.. there's a suprise.) Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 14:32, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
For such toys.. nevermind. Warning, someone is taking the rip out of the Pokédex entry. I have a lovely response to him since he's taking all of that out context but I shouldn't probably argue.. thoughts? (PS - Can I start a new topic?) Highway Rainbow Sneakers 14:41, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank god! I was getting sick of colons. Cool, Woolworths never has stuff like that now :P I probably shouldn't post it.. meh I'm past caring, ALoan tried as hard as he could to fail Bulbasaur and now he's judging Torchic against it. I wonder how long it'll take TA to arrive. Any ideas? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 14:49, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry but you're just making a mockery out of this. You're pulling this all right out of context!
"That is why their wings are clipped, you see, to stop then flying." Fine, I am sorry I didn't look this up, but haven't you heard of poetic liscence? (Nintendo not me)
"aerial battler" It has the words "Rather Than" infront of it. This is referring to when it evolves, or changes, into a stronger form, and you might think it would evolve into like an eagle or something similar, but it doesn't. Which is why the sentence reads: "and as it evolves into its later forms, Combusken and Blaziken, claws slowly protrude from the ends of its wings, making it a vicious fighter, rather than an aerial battler."
"It has a sac deep within its stomach, in which churns a super-heated fire, allowing it to give literal warm hugs to its trainers. This power also serves as its ammunition in battles." Fine, I'm not sure about the grammar, but adding it on at the end just sound right.. It is obvious that it's referring to the fire..
" The drawing and sprite design of Torchic was created by Ken Sugimori's team for its 2003 release on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance" That was moved from the intro to there, if you could suggest a better place for it we would love your view on the matter. Personally, that sentence is important, primarily because Bulbasaur was said to have a lack of information on the "Making Of" side of Bulbasaur.
I'm not going on because you are just making a mockery of this article. And for the last time, I know that Torchic and Bulbasaur are loosely connected, but just because they are you shouldn't compare with "drag of an article" with the beloved turtle with a pot plant attatched to its spine! FAC is supposed to judge an article based on itself, not another.
Oh well.. I stil don't like him.. he was just taking the rip out of it.. should I cite Torchic being in Trozei, pinball etc? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 14:54, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Anime, which is the only time it speaks. The call thing is from the Pokédex. I actually just threw it together because I was reading the old Bulby noms and I found the list of basic questions the article should answer. And one was "How does it talk?" so I just put that together. The rest of that paragraph is also from questions from the old nom. The manga Pokémon Cham-Chamo Pretty is actually named after Torchic's Japanese call "Chamo".. apparently. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 15:01, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
PS - What do I do about the design stuff? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 15:04, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
I've changed "flightless wings" to "weak wings" and I rewrote that paragraph to:
When Torchic communicates to other characters in the Pokémon anime, the only instance of Torchic actually speaking, it speaks by calling out in it's own unique language, which is comprised of the syllables "Tor" and "Chic".
It's still in the videogames section, which isn't the best place but I move it to the anime, that leaves a one sentence paragraph.. I'll look to see where I can shove the evolution thing and I'll move it down soon. And I'll move the design back up. Any other thoughts? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 15:19, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Or you know, you could do it XD Highway Rainbow Sneakers 15:20, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Another "deletee", just great. If it isn't "this isn't as good as Bulbasaur" it's "DELETE! DELETE!".. *breaths* We're doing fine. I should really stop bugging you :P Highway Rainbow Sneakers 15:50, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
"Yes, I'm doing fine" or "Yes, I'm bugging you"? *laughs* Highway Rainbow Sneakers 15:54, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
So, how is Esperanza going? I was designing userbox templates for the Barnstar Brigade, which have been accepted as okay. Elections going well? Highway Rainbow Sneakers 16:09, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Kirill has replied, and he's taken away the minor object. He did note about the Books and DVDs, among other things, how exactly do you cite DVDs? I just took an educated guess from the books. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 16:41, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
I just the PCP tag :D Dear lord, what have you started.. I'm going to have to base "Pokémon of the Week!" on your toy collection, aren't I? :P Highway Rainbow Sneakers 18:06, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Meh, Titox is starting to be a pain, which is my job. I actually think he's trying to turn it into a fanpage... Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:51, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

We have a problem... Highway Rainbow Sneakers 11:17, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey, hope things are going well. Just dropping a note to say thanks for adding the Torchic nom on all the relevant pages, at this stage we need any support we can get. Everking apparently asked Raul, but I don't know if anything came through, some of the votes are just daft. Can you actually object because the nominator isn't positive? You probably can, nevermind. Thanks again, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:38, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
You nommed yourself! You have gone mad :P I had a question, how can pull Torchic? Its too much stress, its either people complaining the lack of info that doesn't exist. Or trying to delete it. Or leaving messages on my talk page generally saying that it shouldn't pass. Or criticize my ability to write (I can write better in articles than my shining sentences here.) Anyway, I can't take it any more. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 18:56, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Your wish is my command :) Soo 15:35, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Editing others comments?

[edit]

H! Excuse me, but I do not understand what you meant by <don't edit others comments>. Could you explain me, please? Thanks a lot, NorbertArthur 13 April 2006

Ok. I did not observe that. I mean, put it back what he did there. I noticed something: the part that user:Romanian posted to me today, is gone. It is you who remove it? Cheers, NorbertArthur 13 April 2006

Please don't delete my objections on the FAC

[edit]

Celestian, please don't delete my votes as well as the comments left by others. I have restored my objection as well as User:Everyking's comment, and made note of the deletion on the nomination.--Ataricodfish 12:37, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Apology accepted. I'll admit that I was upset to awaken this morning to see my objection deleted and was momentarily frazzled, but all's good. Despite my strong objection to the Torchic article, it has remained surprisingly civil so far, so I got over any negativity fast. I appreciate your apology, though. All the best, --Ataricodfish 14:47, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Election

[edit]

Hi, I'm one of the candidates for the elections. I just wondered if there were any rules as such, I mean I would like to leave a message say on eligible voters' talk pages, to let them know a little about me and my views on Wikipedia and Esperenza. Is this allowed? --Wisden17 13:53, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Probably not a good idea. Campaigning is discouraged on Wikipedia for anything. Anyone who is intrested can see your statemnt on the page, that should be good enough. pschemp | talk 14:31, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Re: Oh My God

He he... yeah, I pop in here and there. I'm not doing much. Just some spelling errors and such. There is a slight chance that I could become more active during the summer like I was last year. So, how is everything? Acetic Acid 23:36, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Chatting is more important than perfecting the world's greatest encyclopedia? :o Congrats on your test results. Those sound like the equivalent of our AP tests, which I also have coming up (English Composition and U.S. History). Good luck on your others. I'm sure you'll do well. As for me, I'm okay. This time of year is so stressful (SAT I and II, our school's musical, prom, the AP tests, driving school, charity walks, etc). Luckily, it's April Vacation, so I can get everything in order. Oh yeah, nice work with Bulbasaur! I shall check those heated discussion archives out. Acetic Acid 00:03, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Articles--original research?!

[edit]

Some days ago, I wrote an article for Wikipedia titled Arrishtotolo Suleymanokh "Harry S. Fulmonovich about a newly-proposed fictional character for The Archie Comics Universe, but it got deleted by request from Gwernol.

I operate a website on 50MEGS.com called The Archie Comics Universe [ where I feature a Harry & Saranda section—along with those (of course) for Archie, Sabrina, Josie & The Pussycats, and others, and a well-stocked page of Archie Comics-related links. My website has been operating for about 4½ years now, and I do get considerable traffic to it.

The newly-proposed series Harry & Saranda is based on 2 different (but closely related) stories found in Archie's Pals-N-Gals Double Digest comics magazine: the 6-page I've Grown Accustomed To Your Customs [issue 17—1996] story that features Prince Rolando of Fosnia with his small entourage visiting Lodge Mansion in the northern reaches of Riverdale, and the 22-page 4-part Riverdale Redux [issue 24—1997], a novellette that introduced the female co-star of the new series, Saranda Yates Jones. This new comics series unites Saranda (from Riverdale Redux) with this new character Harry, a young naturalized American citizen who immigrated from Fosnia (a fictional realm that would be located in the northwest Caspian Sea shore region inside Russia—somewhere strectching from Saratov to Astrakhan). There're also characters, like: Pavlo (Esq.), a recent emigrate to Scotland; Mrs. Vashti Granoble, a retired secretary; Judge Jack Bookum (also from Riverdale Redux) and his wife Marie, amongst others.

Would an article based partly on previously-published works with some research be within Wikipedia's guidelines?! Please weigh in on it... Thank You!

Hi CP. Just letting you know that I fixed a typo in one of the comments you made regarding your request for bureaucracy. I know it's not cool to edit another user's comments but it was clear you had just pressed the wrong key (plus you saying your first ever edit was made tomorrow just bugged me :)). Is there a way?

[edit]

Hi CelestialPower, I recently joined wikipedia, so I don’t know a lot about all the functions that I can use, so I was wondering…is there any way I can change my username without losing my talk messages, post counts, etc.? When I first made an account on wikipedia, I didn’t think I’d do much editing, but now that I do edit a lot, I think it’d be a nice to have a username that I really like (instead of just EKN).
