The 1973 Cortland Red Dragons men's lacrosse team represented Cortland in the USILA as a lacrosse independent. The team won the 1973 USILA College Division Championship, the school's first in any team sport. The team's Head coach was Chuck Winters in his first year at that position, having taken over for departed coach Jack Emmer.[1]

Season Recap

[edit]

Cortland went 9-2 in the regular season and 4-0 in the postseason USILA Tournament. Though a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference, the conference did not sponsor lacrosse at the time. Cortland defeated Hobart Statesmen men's lacrosse, Syracuse Orange men's lacrosse, RPI, Union, and Colgate to win the USILA Central New York Division Championship for the third consecutive year.[2]
