[edit]- Robert Bellah I was drawn to his intrest in religion and morality.
- Promising. Basically nothing there.
- Robert E. Park Drawn to the social issues that he discussed and assimilation.
- Pretty important American sociologist and current article is too brief. Very interesting guy and lots written about him and his work so plentiful material to work with.
- Deviance (sociology)
- Lots of work to do here but one might need to be more of an expert on the sociology of deviance than one could become in half a semester. Harder to find info on a whole field than on a single thinker.
- Donald Cressey His work involving criminology and prisons.
- A rather lame article for a minor major figure. Probably a lot less secondary material available than for Bellah or Park.
- C. Wright Mills Relates to Political Sociology and I'm interested in his concept of sociological imagination.
- Important figure, crappy article. First thing to do would be to read Horowitz' intellectual biography and then read a few of Mills' works. As the discussion page says, the existing article is a real hodge-podge
- Douglas Massey Immigration, residential segregation and his work in Urban Sociology and Race/Ethnicity.
- Not sure if he has enough work to make for interesting article. But good stuff if you are interested in demography and immigration/race in US
- Ascribed status
- Maybe. Source material would probably start with intro books and dictionaries/encyclopedias of sociology. Might not be gripping work.
- Power elite Drawn to this because it relates to Political Sociology.
- This article could be beefed up, to be sure, but not sure by how much. You'd want to read Mills' book and Domhoff's followups and the reviews and critiques of both as well as look at the literature since that has cited them.
