History

[edit]

In early June 2020, AdventHealth purchased 22 acres in Riverview, Florida by U.S. Route 301 for $3.95 million to build a hospital and medical office building.[1] The hospital would be 209,000-square-foot and would cost $216 million.[2] (later it was changed to 282,000-square-foot[3] and $251 million[4]) There will also be a 100,000-square-foot medical plaza.[5] When AdventHealth Riverview opens it will have 82 beds, and enough empty shell space to increase the number of beds from 160-200 as the needs grow.[2][5][6]

In October 2021, AdventHealth had a virtual groundbreaking.[3] On November 30, 2021, construction workers began construction of AdventHealth Riverview.[7][8]

On May 24, 2023, AdventHealth and Robin & Morton celebrated the topping out of AdventHealth Riverview.[4][9][10] On June 13, 2023, AdventHealth purchased another four acres in Riverview for $3.25 million.[11] All total the AdventHealth Riverview site has 40 acres.[5]
