Research area

I work with elucidation of the water splitting mechanism in the protein-pigment complex Photosystem II, using a combination of different biophysical methods, including X-ray diffraction, Mass spectrometry and EPR spectroscopy. Most of these studies are time-resolved and require high precission timing.

Current Occupation: === Casper de Lichtenberg is a Ph.D student at Umeå University with the Messinger group at the department of Chemistry. Casper is currently based in Uppsala as visiting Ph.D student.

Previous Occupation:

[edit]

Casper did his bachelors and masters in biochemistry in the Structural Biology and NMR laboratory at the Department of Biology at The University of Copenhagen. Here he worked with the extraordinary stability of proteins from hyperthermophilic archaea living at 70-90 degrees and pH 2-4.
