Tasks

[edit]

Requests For Permissions  Testing

[edit]

Monitors WP:Requests for permissions/Confirmed and notifies users that are already in the autoconfirmed usergroup.

Redirect Creator  Inactive

[edit]

Requests

[edit]

Requests to create redirects can be made by all autoconfirmed or confirmed users on the page User:CarnivorousBot/Requests. Please put your requests in the format:

  • "Place to make a redirect","Place where redirect leads to"!Comment

without italics or quotes, and do not add spaces between article names. The exclamation point is not a typo. Please write a comment after the exclamation. For example, a redirect from the page "Apple" to the page "Pear" with comment "comment" would read:

  • Apple,Pear!comment

Please make new requests on new lines.

Errors

[edit]

You may see error messages beside your request after it has been processed by CarnivorousBot. The following is a list of error messages and what they mean.

  1. "Page already exists" - The page that you are writing the redirect to already exists, meaning that the bot would be deleting content if preforming the action. This is likely a user error.
  2. "Already done" - The redirect has already been created by someone else.
  3. "Target does not exist" - The page you are trying to redirect to doesn't exist.
  4. "Duplicate" - The redirect has already been requested on the same page.

The source code is currently not available, but will probably become available under GPL in the near future.

Emergency shutoff

[edit]

Administrators: Instead of blocking, consider changing the text on User:CarnivorousBot/run to "false". The bot will switch off. If you would like to block the bot anyway, please click the button at the top of the page. After blocking or switching off, please notify CarnivorusBunny.

Autoconfirmed and Confirmed Users: If the bot is malfunctioning, please change User:CarnivorousBot/run to "false" (casing doesn't matter). The bot will switch off. Please then notify CarnivorusBunny, the bot's operator.

All Users: To stop a malfunctioning bot, report it at AIV.
