User:CameronRailton/Canada moments mural (Aurora)
The Canada Moments Mural is located in downtown Aurora. Standing 2 stories tall and one of the main attractions of Aurora, this mural spans the entire side of a building. This piece of art was commissioned by the town of Aurora with a goal to inspire some of the residents and create a small attraction. The mural showcases the many great achievements of Canadians, Canada's historical landmarks and moments throughout the history of Canada. This art was painted by William Lazos, Larry Mar, Attila Szanyi, and Andres Correa and commissioned by the town of Aurora in 2001.[1] Some complaints about the murals lack of diversity have prompted the town of Aurora to consider expanding the mural at a second location to celebrate the nations diversity.[2] Posters have been placed in the windows of the building that support the Black Lives Matter movement as a sign of protest.
