Description of the contributions and use of sources\citations

[edit]

1. As far as the article about Chieri is concerned I added two new paragraphs: one concerning a culinary specialty, Chieri's Focaccia, and the other one concerning this town's Library. I thought that these are symbols very important to mention when giving an overview of a city as they are part of its culture, so this is why I added them in. The content inserted was initially taken from the Italian Wikipedia page about Chieri (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chieri). The parts that I needed to translate, though, didn't state any specific sources so I went and checked online to find some reliable ones before translating the text:

https://www.comune.chieri.to.it/cultura-turismo/focaccia-chieri

https://web.archive.org/web/20100726163528/http://www.comune.chieri.to.it/contenuti/cultura_turismo/biblioteca/La_nuova_Biblioteca.htm

After having checked the reliability of the information, I proceeded with its translation.

2. As far as the contribution related to the Wikipedia article concerning the church Gran Madre di Dio is concerned, I added a part related to its genesis and history with the Savoia family together with some insights on how the planimetruy of this church is linked with the two main squares of Turin. To gather this information I looked for a reliable source online dedicated completely to this church with enough details:

https://www.cittaecattedrali.it/it/bces/57-chiesa-della-gran-madre-di-dio

After finding the source I translated and inserted the parts that I thought were relevant in the Description section.

Involvement of Stakeholders

[edit]

As I wanted to contribute to articles concerning my hometown and my area I went online to check and look for sources as I no longer live there so Couldn't go the the local library to find books. Even though my research was mainly conducted online, I regard it to be quite successful as I found the information I needed on the official municipality website of Chieri (https://web.archive.org/web/20100726163528/http://www.comune.chieri.to.it/contenuti/cultura_turismo/biblioteca/La_nuova_Biblioteca.htm) and one dedicated to churches and monuments with good sources for the church Gran Madre di Dio (https://www.cittaecattedrali.it/it/bces/57-chiesa-della-gran-madre-di-dio). I also consulted with some of my colleagues from the PMTS course (University of Bergamo) in order to better understand the use of sources and the functioning of a subpage on Wikipedia accounts.

Practical relevance and fallouts of the assignment

[edit]

As I had never contributed t many articles on Wikipedia, I was quite confused on how it all worked, especially when it came to the use of sources and the creation of the subpage. The forum and my colleagues helped me to have a better understanding of the functioning of the Wikipedia system.
