Greg J. Dixon (1932[1]-2019[2]) was an American pastor and Christian activist. He was the pastor of the Indianapolis Baptist Temple from 1955 until his death in 2019. Dixon served as the national secretary of the Moral Majority.[3]
Early life
[edit]Dixon was born in Kansas in 1932. At 14, he was converted at a tent revival. He enrolled at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri in 1950.[1]
Indianapolis Baptist Temple
[edit]In 1955, Dixon became the pastor of Indianapolis Baptist Temple, which at that time had an average attendance of 150. Under the leadership of Dixon, that number grew to an attendance of 3,000 and a membership of 8,000.[1]
Moral Majority
[edit]In 1984, Dixon testified on matters of religious liberty before a Congressional subcommittee in which he called the IRS a terrorist organization.[4]
