Me and WP
[edit]I am a supporter of WP, I began contributing seriously to articles a long time ago but was burnt by the thankless-ness of the job, the overall insignificance of my contributions(its like voting) versus the significant time and effort I was putting in ,and the interference of WP:TIGERS. So I stopped contributing for a while but found that whenever I was reading an article (as a user), I was always tempted to fix mistakes and minor inadequacies, this really suited me, so I decided that I will restrict my contributions to copyediting articles which I was reading as a user, giving back as much as I received, so to speak.
This has worked quite well for me, I do not get involved in the wiki-politics and I do not contribute new content (as that inevitably leads to getting involved), I only copy-edit what I am interested in.
I feel that contributing seriously to Wikipedia for any extended period of time is not advisable, and most normal, intelligent, and wiki-valuable people will quickly realize this and stop, so at any one time seriously active editors are either unintelligent, abnormal, or about to stop contributing. The reason for Wikipedia's success is that so far, the first group of editors have been outnumbered by the last two, whether this will continue to be the case in the future… I don't know but I certainly hope so.
