I enjoyed reading your article on Body Image. I think you could expand more on the topic of body image. You could have a section related to the difference between how men are portrayed and how women are portrayed. Ebscohost was a great source for typing in keywords that matched what I was trying to talk about. There are a variety of sources to add to this topic.

Media Impact on Body Image Media impact on body image is both an interesting and important topic in today’s society. The topic is extremely relevant as the ideals to be perfectly fit, tan, and blonde with white teeth have become the norm. These messages of impossible perfection are seen daily within multiple platforms of media. This topic has both breadth and depth within it, but Wikipedia only has four short paragraphs on the subject. This leaves room for a lot of growth and improvement about media impact on body image within the online platform. The first way we will better the Wikipedia article is to expand on the effects that media has on women in general as well as specifically with young girls. The current article mainly talks about eating disorders, focusing heavily on anorexia, but we will strive to add a range of effects and the extreme tolls it can take on society. The second topic we will add to the current Wikipedia article is how many types of media promote the ideal and unrealistic perfect woman or man. The existing article dabbles into this a little bit, but does not go into depth about the multiple types of media platforms that give this message and how much we are exposed to it on a daily basis. We will also go further into depth about the self-esteem and negative body perceptions of adolescents, and add how these ideals have changed the thoughts and perceptions of young adults. Our article will also add to the history of the media and body image and how the “ideal person” has changed throughout time. This will correlate with how perceptions of adolescents have changed over time as well. The final way we will build up the article is discussing how different sexes and genders perceive the media and their own body image. The current Wikipedia article does not talk to about how the media affects boys or men at all. Although we will keep the focus of body image of women and young girls in the article, we will enhance it by adding the perspective of the opposite sex.
