About my RfA

[edit]

Hi Bratsche. You chose to be neutral on my RfA, but I appreciate the fact that you made your concerns public. I just would like to assure you that I will still work my best on Wikipedia, in order to prove wrong any fears you may still have about me. Best regards, Sam Hocevar 08:55, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

Requesting comments on template alteration

[edit]

Hello. I see you are using one or more of the User instruments templates in your Babel box. Inspired by some recent developments, I want to rework all the templates in there (including ones used on user pages), to make them more like the regular Babel templates. However, I thought I should hear from the people this would affect before actually doing it. Please weigh in at User:Ddawson/User instruments. Ddawson 10:32, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

Protection on Combat ration

[edit]

You did a protect on this page back in early August, and the protect has not been dropped by anybody else. I don't know how to do a general attention to all mods, so this is the only way I could think to try and fix this. Donovan Ravenhull 00:30, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

Or maybe I could pay attention that request unprotection link on the page. Sorry. Donovan Ravenhull 00:33, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

Image License

[edit]

Hello, as you are a member of the Image copyright tag team (no pun intended), I was wondering if you could help me choose a tag for some images I have received permission to place here.

I have received permission to use two logos from Southern Utah University. The grantor only indicated that I could use them here and did not specify any limitations. I have written back to the grantor to concerning which tag should be used and expect a response, but until then I was hoping I could get these marks on the SUU page, with appropriate tags.

Other that, the only guidelines I have found come from here, where it says:

As with the Wordmark, the Birdmark may not be altered in any way. Also, the trademark (TM) symbol must appear in all usages of the Birdmark and its secondary marks.

The Birdmark image contains the trademark symbol, and I assume (in good faith, of course) that it is understood that the image would be placed in a template, as I gave other university articles (with templates) as examples.

I'm thinking that {{PermissionAndFairUse}} might be the best one, though currently I have selected {{logo}} for both. If there is a better one please let me know.

Thanks for your help

Sony Mavica copyvio

[edit]

Hi Bratsche,

The article acquired the copyvio in August. All reversions prior to that are copyvio-free (or, at least not copied from the source that you gave). I've deleted the article and restored all the older versions. I also noted this on WP:CP. I've been bold because I hate to see a perfectly good article buried under a copyvio tag just because someone inserted a paragraph of copyvio text recently.

Greetings,  grm_wnr Esc 22:57, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Deleting certain revisions means deleting the whole article, then going to Special:Undelete/<articlename>, ticking the little boxes of all revisions that are good, and then hitting undelete. The "bad" revisions will stay deleted, the rest will be back. Of course, this is only fun with articles that have a relatively short history =) -- grm_wnr Esc 02:54, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

Hi there. Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you could help me. I noticed that you were one of the people who tags images. I tagged some yesterday as no source, two of which were uploaded by Milena Popovic. They're cartoons of herself, made with South Park Studio Today, she left me a message saying that she didn't know what image tag to use. I don't know either. All it says on the South park Studio Page is that you're allowed to use the images for personal use e.g. avatars, etc. It also says if you want to use them on you homepage to put a link to South Park Studio (Do Wikipedia user pages count as a home page?) Oh, and to get the image you have to take a screenshot :) Can you help me? Thanks.--Shanel 19:58, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks so much for your help! If I knew what type of barnstar to give you, you'd have one right now. :)--Shanel 22:19, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

Re: Curious

[edit]

I only actually did the eggplant thing with the Extreme lesbian support thing once or twice. The extreme lesbian support thing is a joke from the 6th vfd of the GNAA article. Someone voted with "Extreme lesbian (whatever)", and I liked it. So I use it occasionally. Interestingly, if you do a google search for "extreme lesbian support", my votes come up... :D As for the wikistress, meh. My birthday lowered it a bit, and I actually abstained from wikipedia for a day...talking about wikipedia on IRC.... --Phroziac (talk) 03:55, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

NEW ADMI

[edit]

hello Bratsch,

I didn't knew there was an admi to any new user regitrated or I will have done it before!! I would like to know if an admi is forward attributed to a site or if he get there in case of trouble called by a user? It is very important to me now as the admi suddensdly appeared on my site after I had big trouble founding anybody on wiki to help me fight against a revert-button fanatic, only to banish me instead of him! and now is protecting him like he was jesus and she was maria. Only shed does that by sneppering any edit I make, any articles I put she stands there anbd threaten to banish me ..! even thought theres nothing in it who could explain that. She even follow me in my talk page and play gendarme there, and in mediation cabal, I can't breath in wiki for she just kinder my freedom. I want her out of the site because she is maltracting those who do not agree with her protégé YBM. And believe me, he is no sanct. I would like a more objectiv admi and that Bishonen stop her chicane on me. The site name is Talk Bogdanovs Affair and is hot hot hot, so is the mediation cabale of it, and so is the story. I caught the vilain, and became hugely unpopular in the eyes of certain, but I unveil the plot and thats what count.

I hope you can help, Sophie--XAL 07:43, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

I do have another request, perhaps you could help Nicholas in his mediation task as he is not exactly an admi and Sam Houcevar has just become one, thy both will assist this case, I have already offer my help in form of a forum i have build up this week, and that I named Mithra, the greate communicator and healer. So I give you some links and I hope to see you there soon. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal#Bogdanov_Affair

[edit]

Just a note to say that I'm in sincere admiration for the pleasant, even-handed tone you managed on your message on user talk:XAL. You were very polite, friendly, and firm, and, just from the point of view of good writing, if nothing else, I'm amazed. Geogre 00:32, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

It's a weird, weird case. I've interacted with the user exactly once, and now I appear to be one of the archfiends in her vision of Hell. As I've written elsewhere, if folks haven't the temperament for "no one owns their words" or "will be edited mercilessly," then they're going to have everlasting problems. Esperanza made less bureaucratic

[edit]

Hello again, I have (unilatterly) taken away the 'assembly' idea, as per my reasons at that edit summary and per Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Charter. I have left the admin general, as some leadership is good. Now, all you have to do is be a member to establish consensus, the whole assembly idea is gone. Also, I have added an advisory committee, of four members, with limited power besides watching over the admin general and making sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Please look at the ammended charter, and I would love a comment. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:50, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

Dont send me messsages about nonsense

[edit]

I have worked very hard to get my point across sensibly and i have posted pictures to clarify my position. I don't appreciate your message, and I don't want you to send me any more. If you don't like what I have to say thats your problem.--208.254.174.148 02:37, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Actually, it is my responsibility as an administrator to keep the Wikipedia clean from factual inaccuracies. Adding nonsense is a type of vandalism, and if you continue, you shall be temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia, which is a right. If you have any other questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Bratschetalk | Esperanza 02:40, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
Well then it is also your responsibility to clarify what your reasons are, instead of simply saying "nonsense". I ASSUME you are referring to the racial issues on the Black People and White People pages, but I do not know which for certain you are pertaining to. IN addition, in the talk pages I have presented information that is relevant and far from being nonsense. Again, this goes back to the issue of intimidation and unilateral points of view in racial topics in Wikipedia. So like I have said to everyone else, you should present your position, and not try to unilaterally change your page (or in your case, ban someone) for views you do not agree with. I listened to the others in the page, but they are making statements that I have refuted with pictures and information that is not nonsense. Oh and by the way, is there a reason that I have had such enormous difficulties logging in over the past 2 - 3 weeks? --208.254.174.148 18:31, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

My RfA

[edit]

Bratsche-- Thank you for your comments on my RfA. I understand people's reservations about me. I thank you for understanding that I have truly reformed. About your comments on JETFA, I know the point of WP is to edit articles, but I was just becoming concerned with the number of editors who just tag articles with {{wikify}} and don't actually wikify them. Too many people simply try to pass the buck to someone else. It was not created as something to create animosity, rather to simply remind people that there is a lot of work to be done, and growing all the time. I thank you for your time, and hope you may support me in the future (since this seems to be headed towards "no consensus"). Cheers. --Lord Voldemort (Dark Mark) 14:17, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

LV is steadily gaining support votes. I urge you to change your vote to oppose citing JETFA, which I find immature if not excessive, and a history of personal attacks. freestylefrappe 21:06, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

block

[edit]

Heya, I see you've blocked yourself, come back soon! Are you sure you're on a static IP and the only one using it though? I ask because the autoblocker was triggered on that block today, and it wouldn't be nice if other people were being affected by your self-block. --fvw* 03:03, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, that was actually me trying to edit again, triggering the autoblocker. I think I'm on a dynamic IP, so that shouldn't block any innocents. My short break was triggered by real life stress, lack of sleep, work piling up to my ceiling, and the realization that Wikipedia is populated by a bunch of little cliques. But I'm feeling better and more included now. Thanks for your note! Cheers, Bratschetalk | Esperanza 03:28, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
Welcome back! I assume you mean static IP though? Otherwise if you get autoblocked and your IP changes, someone else could end up with the blocked IP. --fvw* 03:36, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

Ah, my first ever spam mass produced and mailed to the spamlist. Well first of all let me re-state that we have an irc channel, #wp-esperanza, and its been rather empty, so I'd appreciate it if you come, even if you just idle about. Now, the evil polls have closed, and I left a justification note for running the evil polls. Nothing has really changed, but at least I have somewhat of a consensus.
