Racial Profiling
[edit]Racial profiling is the use of an individual’srace or ethnicity by law enforcement personnel as a key factor in deciding whether to engage in enforcement (e.g. make a traffic stop or arrest). The practice is controversial and is illegal in many jurisdictions. It should not be confused with offender profiling, which is an investigative tool. Discrimination based on stereotypes (does not have to be through law enforcement)

An Caucasian American man standing on a corner waiting for a bus is stopped and questioned regarding why he is standing there and where he is going. A Hispanic driver is stopped in a "Black" neighbourhood because he "doesn’t belong there" or "looks out of place."A group of white teenagers are pulled over because of the kind of car they are driving.
Racial profiling is also used as a basis of discrimination for employment, services, housing, etc., or to give preferential treatment to an individual or group of people because of their race or ethnicit
