San Juan de Valdez, is a barangay in the municipality of San Jose, in the province of Tarlac.

History of Barangay San Juan De Valdez

Founded in 1957

Barangay San Juan De Valdez was known to be formerly a part of Barangay Sapang Maragul. During World War II,in seacrch for the safety from the Japanese Imperial soldiers who,then,invades,the natives settled in Sapang uyong and Kinabarilan where they believed to be the safest place for them to stay.They grouped themselves together according to their common interests,beliefs and aspirations.This groups,which eventually became families,did not only come from different barangays in the town of Tarlac,but from the other neighboring towns in the Province,such as Gerona and Paniqui. These people were the first settlers of Barangay San Juan de Valdez.

As time of progressed,these people throught of having leader. They elected Pedro Valdez as their first Barrio Lieutenant and Juan Magbag as the first Vice Barrio Lieutenant.As time went on,they decided not to carry the palce’s original name,which were Sapang Uyong and kinabarilan,but named their place after their first leader in recognition  of their works and efforts which contributed to the progress of the place. Thus,San Juan de Valdez was born.

San Juan de Valdez was already led by several leaders from its birth to present.

First was Juan Marcos Teofilo.who held his position from 1957 t0 1989.He was succeeded by Bienvenido Catalan Magday,who led the barangay from 1989 to 1994, next is Maximo Fajardo Teofilo he led the barangay in the higher level of public service from 1994-2002. And the first women to assumed the position as leader is Elizabeth Eugenio Taniza and she finished her brilliant career as a leader in three (3) consecutive terms from 2002-2013.
