Abu Talib had the qualities of his father Abdul Muttalib, his grandfather Hashem and his great grandfathers. He was the adopter of the orphan Muhammed and took great efforts to protect him, and his mission of Prophethood. He was generous to such an extent that sometimes he burdened himself to serve people. He served the pilgrims with the water of Zamzam Well added with dates and raisins. Once in a difficult year, Abu Talib became needy and he borrowed some amount from his brother Al-Abbas on the condition that if he would not be able to return the amount, he would let Abbas undertake the duty. Although the loss of watering the pilgrims did no harm to his position. He was always considered the fount of goodness in Mecca.[1] Due to the increasing expansion of Islam, the Quraysh who knew that Abu Talib stood by Muhammed in his mission; were disturbed, they approached Abu Talib and threatened him to adopt the most handsome man in Mecca, Ammarah bin Walid bin Mughayrah, and abandon Muhammad. This made Abu Talib angry.[2]
Abdul Muttalib,the father of Abu Talib on his death bed, chose Abu Talib amongst his sons to entrust them to take the task of raising Muhammed.[3]
Abu Talib was delighted when Muhammed came to him seeking help to announce his mission of Prophethood. He always encouraged him and defended him. In fact, he was waiting for this day, as he had been
