I began learning Spanish when I was 14 and entering high school in Berlin, New York. After studying it for 3 years, I spent 10 weeks in Nicaragua as a participant in an international student exchange program. I lived with a family from the city of Chinandega that had a son my age, although we attended a private school in the city of Leon. I also have a user page on Wikipedia:Spanish; look in the "in other languages" box.
After graduating from high school, I enrolled at a univerisity located in metropolitan Boston, Massachusetts to study Spanish language and literature. By the end of my third year I admitted to myself that, in spite of how much I enjoyed communicating in Spanish, I didn't care very much for analysing literature after reading it. I changed my major to Computer Science, and eventually the university awarded me a BS in Computer Science.
Today I live in Watertown, Massachusetts, and I am paid to be a computer programmer for a small company in Massachusetts. I am a great fan of Sacred Harp singing, contra dancing, modern western square dancing, and the occasional game of bridge. From time to time I help to organize a social singing session or a dance party. I also enjoy the occasional opportunity to communicate in Spanish.
