Khaled Chehab (22-05-1955) is a Lebanese engineer, businessman, and politician. He is best known for his leadership in engineering and his political contributions to Lebanon, particularly his role as the Head of the Engineers Syndicate in Beirut from 2014 to 2017. Chehab is recognized for his advocacy for democracy, peace, and family values.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Khaled Chehab was born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1955 and grew up in the Noueiri area. He studied at Al Makassed Omar bin Khattab College, where he graduated in 1975. During his time at Al Makassed, he was actively involved in student leadership, serving as the Head of the Students Association in 1972 and as President of Al Makassed Students between 1974 and 1975.
He continued his education at the University of Alexandria in Egypt, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1980, graduating with honors. He was also the President of the Arab Students Association in Alexandria from 1977 to 1980.
Career

[edit]Khaled Chehab is the founder of SECO, an office specializing in contracting and engineering consultancy, which he established in 1983. SECO has carried out more than 120 projects in Lebanon, particularly in Beirut, its suburbs, Mount Lebanon, and the North, as well as over 25 projects across the MENA region. His expertise and contributions have made him a prominent figure in Lebanon’s engineering sector.
Chehab also served as a teacher at Beirut Arab University from 1980 to 1988, and he worked at Riad Shehab Office from 1980 to 1982.
Political Career
[edit]In 1996, Khaled Chehab ran for a seat in Lebanon’s parliamentary elections to represent Beirut. However, after facing political pressure and threats from the Assad's Family Syrian Government, he withdrew from the race. Following this, Chehab was politically embraced by Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and became a key ally in his political movements. After the assassination of Rafik Hariri, Khaled supported Rafik's son, Saad Al Hariri, who subsequently took on political leadership responsibilities in Lebanon. Khaled also played a key role in the reorganization and restructuring of the Future Movement under the leadership of Saad Hariri.
Chehab has been an advocate for democracy, peace, and family values throughout his political career.

[edit]Khaled Chehab is married to Mrs. Sabah Al-Wazzan, and they have five children. He is known for his deep commitment to his community and his family values.
Community Involvement
[edit]Khaled Chehab has played a significant role in various community and cultural organizations. He founded the "Wednesday Seminar" in 1983, which remains an important platform for discussion and collaboration in Lebanon. He also served as vice president of the Seminar. Additionally, Chehab founded and has been the president of the Egyptian Universities Alumni Association in Lebanon since 1993 and the Shehab Association since 1993.
He has also been a driving force behind the construction engineers and traders group in Beirut, founded in 1994, and served as a member of the Lebanese Federation of Gymnastics governing body since 1994. Chehab was the Secretary of Public Relations at Al Farouq Mosque from 1992 to 1994.
