Cleanslate is a nonprofit corporation that grew out of The Cara Program. Cleanslate provides a bridge to permanent employment.
About Cleanslate Chicago
[edit]Launched in June of 2005 by The Cara Program, Cleanslate was born out of a collaboration between Cara staff and a Goldman Sachs managing director who spent one year with The Cara Program as a probono executive on loan. His year was sponsored by an inaugural Goldman Sachs fellowship program designed to connect top-producing leadership with innovative social purpose organizations. Cleanslate aspired to provide an ordinary service (litter abatement, light landscaping, snow removal) in an extraordinary way, so that all Chicago neighborhoods - from Uptown to South Shore to many communities in between - can take pride in the safety, revitalization, and vibrancy that is created through clean streetscapes serviced by fast, friendly and engaging individuals.
Today, Cleanslate serves as a catalyst for true community renewal in many Chicago neighborhoods and contributes directly to each community's revitalization strategy by concentrating its neighborhood beautification efforts along high-traffic corridors, and by establishing itself as a neighborhood presence that helps to restore community pride. In addition, Cleanslate provides individuals an opportunity to secure transitional employment and valuable job skills so they may reenter the workforce. Cleanslate sets itself apart through its:
1. Quality of execution, 2. Fast and friendly professional service, and 3. Focus on communities’ needs.
How to become a Cleanslate Chicago intern?
[edit]As the social enterprise of The Cara Program, Cleanslate provides meaningful training opportunities for individuals seeking to develop their skills so they may secure and sustain permanent employment. In order to enroll in an internship at Cleanslate, an individual must first go through the foundational training at The Cara Program. The process for referring someone to The Cara Program is simple.
