Undiscovered Country is an ongoing post-apocalyptic science fiction comic written by Charles Soule and Scott Snyder, with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Daniele Orlandini, and Leonardo Marcello Grassi. The series is published monthly by Image Comics. The series depicts an alternate future version of the United State of America, which is divided into a number of different "zones" that embody a different aspect of American ideology such as Destiny and Unity. The story focuses on a group of specialists - reporters, scientists, and diplomats from around the world, who have been invited to visit the United States after years of closed borders, hoping to find a cure to the global pandemic known as the Sky Virus.

This first issue was published on November 6, 2019 and reached No. 11 on the sales charts for the month of its release. The series currently consists of twelve issues, collected across two trade paperback volumes, with the thirteenth issue scheduled to be released on June 23, 2021.

Premise

Thirty years after the United States closed its borders and completely isolated itself from the rest of the world in an event known as "The Sealing", a message is received from within the United States' borders inviting a small diplomatic envoy is invited to be the first allowed back in. As incentive, the messages also offers the United States' assistance in combating an epidemic known as the Sky Virus that has ravaged the rest of the world. The team created to accept this mission consists of scientists, politicians, soldiers, reporters, and mercenaries, each with their own ideas about what they might encounter within America's walls and how it might benefit the world, or themselves. Among the team are Dr. Lottie Graves, an epidemiologist who has dedicated her life to finding a cure for Sky, and her brother Daniel, an outcast mercenary who claims to have breached the US border at least once before.

As they into American airspace following the instructions of their invitation, the envoy's transport is hit with an explosive missile fired at them from below. The envoy crashes somewhere in the Midwest, now a wild desert, crawling with strange amalgamations of creatures. The survivors of the crash are faced with hostility from the locals who claim the team have trespassed on United States territory and must be executed. Fleeing their attackers, the team finds refuge in a cave system with a group of survivors calling themselves the "Silent Minority", who are hiding themselves away from the mutant hordes the team faced before, led by a strange horned figure called the Destiny Man. Within the Silent Minority's hideout, Lottie and Daniel find a map depicting the united states carved into new, distinct zones and a spiral path running between them that culminates in the center of the country. The leader of the Silent Minority then reveals himself to be Sam Elgin, the man who sent the initial invitation. Sam then gathers the team and gives them a new mission: Save the United States of America.
